What a letdown of conference. Did I expect too much? Too much kinect! And I feel like I'm forcing myself to be excited about Halo and Gears :(

Rating: C-

Blacktric4376d ago

Went down just like I expected it would. I learned not to get my hopes up since E3 2011 turned out to be a big pile of crap for all three companies.

chasegarcia4376d ago

disagree for the C-, It was more like a d-.

darthv724376d ago (Edited 4376d ago )

on the amount of kinect stuff. Unless you are counting the kinect integration in the more control based games shown?

The only real kinect-esq games shown were fable, nike training and the dance central 3. All the other games were traditional controller ones with some type of kinect feature.

Overall it was better than last year. It would have been better to close with halo 4 instead of blops2.

Just my opinion but it would have been akin to when bill gates did the reveal for halo 2 as sort of a "oh yeah, we have one more item to show you" kind of thing and then it was a memorable trailer for halo 2 (still one of my favorites).

i love ms but id have to agree.

+Halo 4
+Splinter Cell
+Forza Horizon
+espn updates

-Kinect...good to see some integration but still a more or less useless product
-nike....lmao that will never be used. yes people will buy it, however nobody will ever use it
-Fable...looked worse than expected
-Gears....didnt really show off anything, whatever
-DLC....get over the timed dlc, nobody cares. show off some new freaking ips for f*cks sake!!!!
-no real dashboard updates
-no new features that are actually going to be useful or used ( integration with the tablet looked more or less useless )
-xbox music....wtf thats zune just with the metro interface ( still a great product though fyi )

overall.....FAIL

1. where is RARE? perfect dark, killer instinct, real banjo sequel
2. what about rememdy? alan wake had potential, give them one more shot
3. new franchises????
4. internet browser???

whatever, blow me ms. keep going after that casual base, then watch you be in Nintendo place next trying to win us "core gamers" back once you realize that casuals move on to the "next fad" every 15 min

darthv724376d ago

The one thing that I took away from it regarding the xbox music was that if given the choice between the two brands of xbox or zune you would want to go with the one that is more well known.

So while it may be just a re-branding of the service it doesnt take away from the service itself. Similar to how sony is wanting to capitalize on the brand recognition of "playstation" and thus naming various things around it.

Apple does it as well. The popularity of a name can lead to the use (or over-use) of it on many things that had been named something different prior. It is marketing pure and simple.

fossilfern4376d ago

What you said is 100% true! Nothing new it was just stuff we knew, kinect stuff, and nothing from the likes of Rare. Really disappointed.

Lol I love how Microsoft deemed watching Usher and a bunch of dancers as more time worthy than a dashboard update. Ending it with a multiplatform game was the icing on the cake.

v0rt3x4376d ago

That was the weakest E3 for Microsoft yet.

metsgaming4376d ago

i give it an F oh ok F+, the last two years before this were terrible but at least they were funny bad this one was boring bad. oh soooo boring. I just cant see how a conference could be worse at least the other worst conferences had gif material and were funny this was sad.

NoobJobz4376d ago (Edited 4376d ago )

You must not have seen last years

Edit: @vortex. Did you even read what I wrote? In no way did I say MS had a good show. I said last years was much worse.

v0rt3x4376d ago

What - just because this year's E3 included Halo 4 out of 6?

And CoD 9?

And Gears of War 4?

Are you guys delusional?

CoD 9? 9!!!! Does THAT make it the best Microsoft E3 ever?

You have got to be shitting me.

v0rt3x4376d ago

@Tompeeper - I wasn't refering directly to you - but those who disagree with the fact that MS had a bad show this year. Sorry that your message became the catalyst of my rampage. Wasn't intentional.

OneAboveAll4376d ago

Worst keynote for MS in a long time. Only thing that looked awesome was Halo 4, i'll admit that. Everything else was shoved down my throat. I don't own a $400 "tablet" neither do ever ever want to. Pointless bull crap as usual.

I lost my drive for collecting physical games due to many discs lacking the whole complete game. Instead, of collecting games I started collected figurines.

Popsicle1d 17h ago

I am a collector have a room dedicated with a couple original arcade cabinets, physical game library, old and new consoles and controllers backlit with LED lighting. It’s very cool to have but with emulation being so strong and prevalent, I sometimes feel foolish because the hobby is expensive and like another said, the full game is not always on the disc. Could probably spend more wisely but I enjoy it.

shinoff21831d 2h ago

Most games are usually on disc still. Of course you got you publishers that are hit and miss, Activision, ubisoft, ea, Microsoft, where the rest of the game needs downloaded.

It's an outstanding game and so was The Old Blood. Also a lost era of gaming. Interesting, I received a physical copy of The Old Blood 9 years ago today from Poland. It was digital only in North America initially upon release so I had to import.
