I'm not understanding the logic behind the score then

You show that you've experienced and acknowledged the character development behind Squall yet call him "boring, mopey, inconsiderate, and unhelpful", basicaly the things he is at the start of the game, not the person he turns out to be. I mean you've noted that he went from a "loner and an untrusting person into a confident and capable leader and friend" but you still downplay his character.

I mean you also say

"I felt like the game was missing that impact the main character should have"

and yet Cloud didn't have this amount of good character development behind him

If anything the scores should be the other way round

As for FF13, it dosen't matter if you knew the terms and what people were going on about, the story still sucked and was filled with plotholes, more then other FF games.

To be fair, we don't even get to see that fully imagined Squall until his cameo in Kingdom Hearts. Throughout the entire game in VIII Squall questions himself and just generally doesn't give a crap.

I agree with most of the scores given to each game but i do have to disagree with the Final Fantasy 5 score.

The game introduced one of the best sub-bosses in the series, Gilgamesh. The job system that was in 3 was fleshed out in this game that eventually led to the system they used in FF Tactics. Is it the best FF game...no but it is no where near the worst of the original series. When Hironbu Sakaguchi say it is his favorite FF game next to FF 9 it has to be good.

It is also i believe the first game in the series where a main party character dies.

Still Final Fantasy 4 is my fave in the series cause it was my first FF game i ever played & it contains in my opinion the greatest boss theme EVER: Zeromus!!!

I'm doing it again: defending X-2.

I don't know what game you were playing, but when I played X-2, I saw it as my chance to see what the world is like AFTER it's been saved. A world whose religion is destroyed. Heroes whose purpose has passed. People whose loved ones are gone.

What next?

It should be obvious from Yuna's change, but you can see it all over the world: people trying to make a way for themselves in this new reality. Yuna herself- with a summoner being both critical to the story of X and the religion that Spira relied on- is searching for a new identity. The Dress Sphere system is reflective of that, and there are numerous occasions in the game where she's unsure of herself.

Everything in the game is about dealing with the past being... in the past, and moving forward. Brother's sad lamentations to Barkeep about Yuna's backside, facing Trema at the bottom of the Via Infinito, and even laying the final boss to rest: it's all about coming to grips with and resolving the past, and moving forward without forgetting.

The Charlie's Angels stuff was just flash to pull in a new audience(I guess?), but for me it was impossible to miss the things I mentioned above.

That's why I find X-2 so enjoyable.
