Rumours have been circulating that Sony is looking to buy up an online streaming company – with most assuming it’ll be either Gaikai or OnLive. Well, despite a few nuggets suggesting it might be the former, news published this evening move the pointer back towards OnLive.
Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki and CFO Lin Tao talked about the state of the PlayStation business and the strategy and targets going forward, including how they're responding to the tariffs.
Sony announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2024, and things are certainly looking up, despite a decline in PS5 sales.
If their profits fall next quarter, we'll probably see more price hikes. I can't imagine having to pay £20 a month for PlayStation Plus.
Decline in hardware sales.
Behind on lifetime sales and decline in first party sales.
Third party content and PSN came through to save the day.
Things will improve starting with the next Ghost game.
Hopefully a steady flow of first party content by end of '25
PlayStation 5 has shipped 77.8 million units worldwide, Sony announced in its financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2025.
very nice.
in almost 5 years too.
some big hitters are yet to come
Gaikai is designed to work on tv/tablets/monitors.....Samsun g running the service on their box doesn't really mean anything.....Gaikai isn't limited to one brand of tv or tablet...
http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed...
Any brand with a smart tv could use Gaikai...
Just because Gaikai is providing services to Samsung doesn't mean that Sony still can't buy them out.
yeah but i still hope its Onlive
@discordia
exactly Sony PlayStation are one of the few sony branches bring in money so im more than sure they can acquire gaikai or which ever they have there eyes on
I'd love Samsung to get involved. The current services are mostly available to the U.S. and a few other countries. What about the rest of the world?
