Streets of Rage (Bare Knuckle in Japan), as a series, is known for its fantastic soundtracks. Yuzo Koshiro was able to wield the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis sound chips like no other, creating what is still some of the best video game music ever. While the general consensus is that Streets of Rage 2 has the best soundtrack of the three games, I personally have a soft spot for the original games music.
Yuzo Koshiro, the legendary music maker of the Streets of Rage series is returning to his and Ancient Corps. Megadrive roots with a brand new shoot 'em up called Earthion.
I've been following this project and it's looking better and better. Plus it has his music so you know it will sound good too.
Retro beat-’em-up fan and looking for something new? Here are nine games like Streets of Rage to sink your teeth into.
Simply a list of super random beat'em ups, not one of them is actually like Streets of rage which makes the list pretty inaccurate. Seriously..TMNT Turtles in Time in a list of games that " are like Streets of Rage" ? And that while there are actually many beat'em ups that are pretty similar to Streets of Rage like The Takeover.
Good selection of games to choose from. But if you really want to get your streets of rage on, Openbor baby. Openbor. As the engine is based on SOR combat. With some of the top ones being by Zivitor and his crew with MIW(Marvel Infinity War) and Justice League Legacy. You play as so many super heroes, it's crazy. An embarrassing amount of optional characters and game modes. And Justice League has a built in SOR game that allows you to play as heroes or villains from DC comics.

He used to have a great trailer but lost his data.
There's more games but I'll let those interested find out themselves for Android and PC.
Final Fight, Knights of the the Round even though it is in medieval times, Golden Axe, Punisher for Sega Genesis, Captian America and the Avengers, The Death and Return of Superman, Separation Anxiety a sequel to Maximum Carnage, TMNT the Arcade game for the SNES. Any beatem up can fit that list all beatem ups are pretty much the same just like all shmups are pretty much the same whether over head or 2D side scrolling.
It's been relatively easy to collect for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive because game prices have stayed quite low compared to other retro consoles. But the recent retro explosion is even affecting this market now. Here's a list of Genesis/MD games that you may want to grab before they get any more expensive.
Aww man. I forgot about Boogerman. And the McDonald’s game. Me, my sister, and a lot of my cousins put countless hours into that one.
I have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Hyperstone Heist, complete. It's awesome and I've beaten it so many times.
Simple amazing soundtrack, awesome write-up. B)
