Top 15 Worst Video Game Fanbases

Ah yes. Bad video game fanbases. Moaning about the slightest of character changes, gameplay changes and graphical changes. Maybe not? Maybe if the gameplay goes online or if there’s a popular forum to go chat about the franchise and we have little kiddies who run the place like an anarchy throwing f-bombs in your ear. Maybe it might be that they are such bad video game fanbases that they could cause market crashes with their narrow interests and constant obnoxious reminder that it is a “god” of a franchise. So how are we deciding the worst?

Truth is the Nintendo fan base really fell from grace. I mean, the last wii game I played was skyward sword, which was awesome. But something really happened to the Nintendo fanbase. They became, well snoby and believe that Nintendo should be the only ones to make games in a certain genre. Look at allstars and littlebigkarting. The amount of hate the Nintendo fan base is giving is ridiculous.... Not to mention the fact that people complained that skyward was not as good as ocarina. I mean, I have loved Nintendo ever since I started gaming, my fondest memories was getting an n64 and playing mario64 for the first time. Nintendo was all about just spreading this love for games.... But the fanbase has devolved into them thinking that Nintendo should be the only ones to make games in the genre because they "invented" it. I mean, why deny another group of gamers a similar experience? As a die hard Ssb fan I'm excited for allstars.... But the Nintendo fanbase tears it apart due to its obvious inspiration from Ssb. It's really disheartening that this grop of gamers that I grew up with for the longest time have turned into this. The message Nintendo gave was that everyone should enjoy games, irregardless of platform... To see that message ignored for Nintendo is the only one who should b allowed to make these games is really sad to see.

To the comment of furry fandom: To each their own, but not all "furries" like to think of things in a naughty nature. Maybe to some furries, anthropomorphic animals are just cool and people like to draw or see them in media. For the Sonic fanbase I was refering to the people who make convoluted (not even good) fanfiction or fancomics that don't even have some form of coherency to it.

Thank you for clearing up that discrepancy. Tbh, I have read some of the Sonic fanfiction and came across this Sonichu fan-fiction that completely blows my mind. Fanfiction in general is utterly disturbing but it gets taken into a whole other level with the author. Anyways, my own view on furrydom if there is such a thing is that it is utterly bizarre to run around to make and wear fur costumes that sometimes leads to deviant behavior. However, I will concede the point that if it's purely for fun time akin to the same people who go to Sci-Fi or Comicon or Anime conventions (which I also find bizarre) it's not so terrible.

Still freaks me out mind you.

Sonichu! CWC is my favourite internet person, but he is the most infuriating fanboy I've ever come across, he alone deserves the number one spot for his blind devotion to various game series.

They are the qualities of the extreme fanbases.

I am a fan of kingdom hearts but I do not represent the qualities of those written however you are correct there is a % within any fanbase that have these kinds of people.

When I wrote this, I did kind of take a semi-parody sense while still giving a legit view on the issue. If it comes off as trolling, well then excuse me for having half of the franchise pictures featuring trollfaces in them! :P

According to the internet or n4g these days, anyone who has their own opinion on things is automatically a troll :P People seem to have a very difficult time spotting real trolls these days, despite how painfully obvious they are.

Also as a sane kingdom hearts fan, I have one thing to say, KH 1 and 2 were awesome, but it was like the developers themselves took a fan fiction approach with all the spin offs and random characters being brought into existence out of nothingness... Just give us KH3 already, thats all we ever needed.

Also get a laugh when I talk about warcraft:orcs vs humans to friends and they have no idea it was a RTS before it was an MMO... le sigh :(

Pretty good list. I definitely agree with VII at the top: as much as I enjoyed the game, the overwhelming attitude of its fans make me want to hate everything about it.

Whether you intended to troll with the article or not, it reads as one big session of you doing exactly what you're scolding other people for doing. You might think its funny or really sarcastic humor, but it really just comes off as pretty sad.

All fandoms are full of dumb people, it's just that more popular ones stick out more and grab more attention.
