Top 5 badass video game characters

Games have evolved tremendously over the past decades. Among the various amazing things gaming has created, one of it’s creations are the characters. Some of them are cute, others are cool, while a few of them… are badass.
What exactly does it mean to be badass? How about going on a rampage, destroying everything you see? Or getting a bullet to the head and feeling nothing? Or dying and coming back to life and dying again and coming back as a remnant? Those are only a few of the things that contribute to the bad-ass-edness.
Here is a list of the top 5 badass characters in video game history.

If you personally believe Sephiroth to be the most badass of them, then why compromise your opinion?! It's your list, make it how you want.

Don't try and please other people for more popularity.

And, no, Kratos is not the strongest Video Game Character.

smashcrashbash4722d ago

Well Kratos is a God after all. He may not be the strongest game character ever but you have to admit out of all the people on this list he would be the hardest to beat. The man killed Zeus, the KING of the Gods, several demi gods, Titans and Gods and crawled out of Hades, twice. He is not be an easy guy to beat.I think he has earned his place at number one for being a bad @$$.

beerkeg4722d ago

He's not Gordan Freeman though. Gordan Freeman deals with shit that affects SPACE and TIME.

Lord_Sloth4722d ago

Naaaah. He struggled the whole way through his series and died just about every game.

Dante killed the god "Despair Embodied" with little to no effort, even taunting and toying with him. He blocked a direct punch from the Savior which houses thousands of years of demonic energy for each and every crystal located on it's body with the blood of Sparda and the Sparda Sword at it's heart. He held off the strongest creature in his universe for about an hour by himself. Also remember that Sparda was strong enough to stand up against the entire demon race by himself AND seal away the strongest demon at that time. Dante has since surpassed his ability and proved such when he faced the Savior.
Let's also not forget that Dante seems completely unkillable.

Even Nero could possibly stand against Kratos. When he blocked Burial's sword with no effort with his off hand (Nero's right handed but is forced to use his left after his right arm became the Devil bringer) and defeats Sanctus who had the power of Sparda and was at the heart of the Savior.
Nero is also seen tossing around the title's bosses as though they weigh nothing at all. See his fight against Bael.

Sephiroth began pulling the planet out of orbit to use it as his own ship and before that he pulled a meteor that was light-years away towards the planet. He also unleashed a plague that was infecting the entire planet to wipe all life from it. Look up Sephiroth vs Genesis for a display from a weaker Sephiroth.

I won't even bother going into Asura. If anybody thinks Kratos can beat Asura they're just being bias.

The only 2 people on that list Kratos can beat are Max and Snake.

Whenever someone makes these comparison list the fans/posters/bloggers always get the comparison's wrong.

You can't compare the strength of characters across universe because some universes are just flat out stronger than others. To compare characters you should compare the strength of the characters relative to their own universe.

I played Max Payne, Metal Gear, and GOW. Bullet-time is so broken that copied it. Kratos leaves me feeling the most powerful of all these characters.

However, the most Bad-ass is Solid Snake. He routinely defeats opponents who are stronger than he is. Beating weaker opponents doesn't make you a bad-ass.

rajman4722d ago

Asura should have been on that list...and at #1

Cole, from inFAMOUS, with evil karma is pretty badass.

smashcrashbash4722d ago (Edited 4722d ago )

Before you go on about those thing the others did just remember Kratos killed ALL the Gods and several Titans, plural. The immortal creatures that controlled everything from weather to the earth itself to the stars in the sky and life and death itself that no one else could contest. Don't talk as if what Kratos did was nothing. If you read Greek and Roman mythology no single person or demi god was ever able to kill any God. Kratos killed the whole Pantheon.

Lord_Sloth4722d ago (Edited 4722d ago )

Indeed he did. He also struggles to open some doors and can't move iron gates on his own. The gods in his game don't seem like to be on par with their legends. Simple fact is Dante's realm seems to be much tougher as a whole. Same for Sephiroth. The very mortals of their realms rival and surpass the gods of his realm.

After everything Kratos struggled to do, Sephiroth held up his hand to take control of the entire freaking Planet! It took all of the gods combined to keep the planet in balance and Sephiroth took control of it on a mere whim!

Consider how long it took Kratos to kill all the gods and how tough the fights were on him. Now consider how easy the others made it look.

Just freaking consider Asura by himself!

Where is the time going, this is 2 now? Also, RE4 remake and Diablo 4…

Putte7h ago

Absolutely not the best Star Wars game. That's Star Wars galaxys. Survivor isn't even that good

Becuzisaid6h ago

Not sure I agree about Galaxies, but I definitely think the Jedi series is not the best.

Sonic18815h ago

So what's the best Jedi series?

Becuzisaid2h ago

@Sonic I was meaning the Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor games. Not the greatest.

If you're wanting to know what's the best series with Jedi in it? I mean KOTOR, Jedi Knight, Jedi Academy, Force Unleashed off the top of my head. Even the Episode 3 tie in game was pretty decent.

Fonsecap7h ago

Good game, terrible performance.

jznrpg4h ago

I loved the game but hated the issues. I waited over a year to play it and it still had major issues. I would have went for the platinum but with all the save bugs and other issues I didn’t even think about it

Sciurus_vulgaris2h ago

I’ve played both Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor. I think the games are good not great.

Oblivion Remastered Soars to the Top of the Previous Week’s Most Played Games on Steam Deck

The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered rose to the very top of the Steam Deck Most Played Games list. Have you tried it yet?

anast1h ago

"We have to admit, there is something extremely nostalgic about playing Oblivion at 30 FPS, with mild stuttering outdoors. And, even though it doesn’t run perfectly, it’s still so much fun. This could be one of the games that helps grown-ups find their way back to gaming."

I would assume most grown-ups don't get excited about products that don't work properly. I would also assume that most grown-ups coming back to gaming don't want to spend the limited time they have modding a broken game to get it to run properly on the Steam Deck.
