Augmented reality (or AR for the acronym enthusiasts) is something we’re starting to see in our video games, using cameras to capture our play space and placing the game world within it. The PlayStation Vita is one of the latest systems to jump on-board, using both its front and rear cameras to bring our living rooms, public transit interiors, or faces directly into the action. One such title is Fireworks, a free game available in the PlayStation store that has one goal: to bring all the excitement and splendor of your favorite pyrotechnic displays to the palms of your hands.
VRFocus - This week sees the release of yet another new virtual reality (VR) experience that lets users experience a seemingly pedestrian experience with an Oculus Rift VR headset. A develooper has released a new title simply named Fireworks onto the official Oculus VR Share beta. The experience can currently be downloaded for free on PC and Mac, though there’s no mention of a possible Linux version.
Brash Games writes "The only real replay factor here is the challenge of trying to beat the worldwide top scores. The game may well appeal to people of all ages. After all everybody loves fireworks don’t they?".
"Alternate Reality games have become ever more popular since mobile gaming took off in the last few years. It came into prominence in the gaming scene with the likes of the Playstation Eye Toy games and then Nintendo’s 3DS console gave it to everyone (who owned a console mind) with a set of AR cards and some basic mini-games. Sony however have upped the stakes and provided three substantial Alternate Reality titles, along with six AR cards, so all PS Vita owners can download and enjoy some rather meaty gaming experiences. One of these titles is a tap centric game known as Fireworks."
