Stretch from bagofgames.com recounts his horrific journey through Dragon's Dogma.

"Even my most hated games like BioShock, Prototype, Red Dead Redemption and Might and Magic: Dark Messiah at least have some semblance of charm and character." Lmfao. He hated Red Dead Redemption and BioShock? Feel free to ignore this person completely.
( o Y o )
Someone didn't play Dear Ester this year
Even if I did, I don't even classify Dear Ester as a game at all.
Let's just air it out: you sucked at Dragon's Dogma. It's okay. Not everybody can be good at everything. I suck at ballet. Granted, I've never TRIED ballet, but still...
I was excited for Dragons Dogma, but after that awful demo i played i soon cancelled my pre-order Crapcom aint getting mt money, i wont even rent Dragons Dogma Im still hopeful The Witcher 2 will be announced for the PS3 at E3 And Prototype is the worst game ive played this gen
Someone didnt play AMY :P
Someone didnt play vampire rain.
Someone didn't play Big Rigs.
Someone didn't play Onechanbara.
I loved Dear Esther.
someone didnt play E.T...
That is quite possibly the worse review I've ever read. He basically complains the whole time because the game is to hard for him and doesn't hold his hand. Gaming journalism at its worse.
This isn't a review.
I love difficult games. the only time I would hate on a games difficulty is if the gameplay mechanics were broken. DD succeeds in the gameplay section easily.
Anyways... It's selling like its "da hot ish," over in the land of the rising sun.
This game Is brilliant and anyone who thinks red dead and bioshock are bad games and writes for some site called bag of games is not worth anymore of my time. Goodluck with this horrible piece of journalism.
I'm actually wondering what games he likes... "my most hated games like BioShock, Prototype, Red Dead Redemption and Might and Magic: Dark Messiah at least have some semblance of charm and character. But Dragon’s Dogma is just empty. And yes I know that those are some very popular games I just branded, so I guess that makes my opinion automatically wrong, right?" not wrong, just completely irrelevant to anyone looking for a good game to play. Edit: I made a bit a research and his other reviews are actually quite decent. He just has some games he hates on, for no apparent reason as he is unable to understand what he hates in a game.
i am playing and the game its brilliant, its a true RPG like old times, no hand holding and the combat its phenomenal why are some people try to bring down this game? because its Japanese? This game its even better than Amalur IMO, if that's saying something
everyone brings down anything thats japanese this gen for some reason yet praise the recycled shooter games Dogma is awesome. deep gameplay so much to do. the way that so many items can be combined, the way night time is actually dark and creepy, I mean come on i have to fill my lantern with oil! the lantern goes out while im fighting and im screwed. theres alot of little things that make this game awesome
The game can't possibly be worse than reading this inane article. And why would you have only magic pawns when you are mage yourself, of course combat will be a pain then...
Really ? That's really stupid of him ..it's like he didn't understand the point of the game pawn system
I think the game just kicked his ass.
Cool story, brah. Why don't you tell it to me again?
The unremovable "letterbox" view is pretty BS, if you ask me.
They had to because the game apparently was not running well enough when in fullscreen, thats saying something because my game chugs along as it is when theres lots of onscreen action. I am really enjoying the game though, probably one of my best games this year in fact (for now).
Yeah, the reason they did is obvious. The game couldn't handle it. Still makes me angry that I bought a game that "can't" run fullscreen. That's an unfinished product, imo.
Seriously, just because a game requires skill, tactics and patience doesn't mean it's a bad game. Quite the contrary in Dragon's Dogma's case. Don't be put off by stupid articles/reviews such as this where the author dismisses the game because it didn't hold their hand through the entirety of the campaign. Personally, DD is the best game I've played this year and one of the best open-world action RPG's I've ever experienced. It's not a game for everyone, sure, and it does hit a few speed bumps graphically and storyline-wise, but the game succeeds far more often than it fails, especially in terms of combat and unique online elements. If you're on the fence, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.
Lol, it's at the start of the game. Your pawn will constantly remind you too. Having a team without diversity, will get you wiped out quickly. It's a good game.
They also warn you when you are about to be dominated, I was running up a side path and my one pawn said we were out matched, and of course I didn't listen. Ended up being dominated lets just say from now on I know to heed their warnings.
That would have been fine IF every battle wasn't exactly the same. They just take too long. They're not difficult, they just test my patience. How is it that a bandit can get hit by over 30 fully charged fireballs and survive, only for him to walk up to me, stab me once and kill me instantly?
@Stretch The bandit's level was much higher than yours? It's like you haven't played an RPG that isn't from this generation, holy fuck.
seems people are use to TES were enemies level with you and not like DD were enemies level depending on the area they are
It's not a casual game and will not walk your hand. Gaming journalism is horrible as a whole
Nope, I'm playing it now and I like it better than the Witcher. Yup, I said it. To be honest, the Witcher is a better made game, but I'm having more fun with DD. And yeah, this guy sucks at it.
The Witcher is all about story and I enjoyed it for that. But games are supposed to be fun to play, and in my opinion, that is where it fell a little short. The cool looking, but tedious sword play, weak magic and cumbersome meditation system just felt dull over the long haul. Add in lack of enemy and environment variety, awful looking gear, tank controls, out of place QTEs and the linearity of it all and I was left just being thankful that it at least had a great story to keep me interested. But it is not something I want to play again anytime soon.
Spot on. My sentiments exactly.
What an idiot. This game is awesome
In my opinion, this is the best game to come out this year and I've played tons of them. The combat in this game is incredible. I look forward to every battle and am scared to actually engage some though. Your BALANCED team is a must and you need to listen to them. It's not just mindless chatter. And, I have to admit that I love the pawn system. having my pawn help out other travellers in their game and gaining experience and information on different quests is genious. I love finding out that my pawn was helpful to someone and seeing the ratings as well as the gifts they come back with. Not to mention hiring someone elses pawn to help my ass out. Loving the game. I could go on and on about it. :)
+bubbs Perfectly said.
It might be the most overlooked game I have ever played. The pacing, feeling of growth and adventure, the gameplay variety and attention to so many fine details is pretty damn amazing. So sad that many are not even seeing this. Don't sleep on this game because of some butt hurt article about how it's too hard. When it's too hard, you go back, level up and then come back later to reap the rewards of your growth. That is what it is all about and far too many games in this genre go the instant gratification route instead. Read some level-headed gamer impressions from people who are playing, like over on NeoGAF. You will find that nearly everyone who is actually spending a lot of time with it are loving this game. Word of mouth like that is usually always a better indicator of quality than some whiny, exaggerated, uninformed garbage like this.
well said, specially this part "instant gratification" gaming this days its pushing this to hard so when a game like this comes out they just hate it. There is a big word of mouth for this game so hopefully it will be a success, i heard in japan only had like 500,000 preorders, let see how it does around the world so they can make this a franchise and HOPEFULLY they wont change the approach of the game since i believe (and a lot of people do) think its brilliant
Ive seen a lot of ppl complaining about this games difficulty but it's no Dark Souls. I'm a level 31 Magic Archer and I've die about 3 times total since I've started the game. Investing in strong pawns as well as your own is the key, other than that, the game rocks.
This game is awesome.
What?, really?, this was a piss-and-moan review Dragons Dogma was fun to play, had a nice Shadows of the Collosus feel, the upgrading was good, the graphics fit, and the combat was top notch. The game was a challlenge to you, so you wrote this? dude, very uncool.
I wouldn't go as far a saying Dragon's Dogma is EPIC or Awesome, but its very good. Its an acquired taste. It snot a blanket "for everyone". Neither is the Witcher for that reason. Games like Dragon Age are much more accessible and when compared to games like Dragon's Dogma and Witcehr it is readily apparent. So, DD is a little weak in narrative, but good in exploration. Difficulty can rev up in seconds. You can be fighting a party that is up to or below your level and all of a sudden you'll be fighting a pack of Ogre's or a Dragon that swooped from the sky. Graphics are OK, but they are not awe inspiring. The pawn system is good and integral to the game. Its something that I like about it, but I wish you could do more with them. I don't really fell they are as responsive as I wish them to be. Expect to save a lot, because you WILL do a lot. at least combat is fun.
Yeah in the first paragraph Stretch says that Bioshock, Prototype and RDR were some of his most hated games. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and in my opinion Stretch shouldn't be allowed opinions.
Probably got owned repeatedly at night without a lantern and wondered, "why can't this be like Skyrim more?"
Very good! And spot on!
he he he he! , lmao EXACTLY.
This article is awful. We GET it... you didn't like the game! Jesus H. Christ... So annoying when a "journalist" doesn't like something and proceeds to use the rest of the article to complain and nitpick every little thing they can find. Your pathetic attempts at humor were more annoying than anything else. And forming your sentences to make the game seem petty/stupid is petty/stupid. (Example: "So, I end up in some waterfall cave thing" why not just call it a cave with a waterfall?) Maybe don't write an article while freshly pissed off, otherwise you sound petty. From the way you failed to describe quests/objectives it just sounds you didn't pay attention while playing. (this could also be why you suck at playing the game) I'll sum it up by borrowing one of your lines: "I literally feel stupider after all of that."
This guy needs to never paly a game again! bio shock 1 an 2 awesome RDR bea-uitfuly done game. i will hate to read what he thinks about max payne 3 witch is a perfectly well done game. i got it i bet this guys fav game is fable an juiced. with that i say you sir are a fail as a gamer, your like stan in that one South park Ep where everything is shitty. YOU SUCKY WATER SACK GET A NEW JOB! (that is all)
I registered just to tell the world that this guy...is an idiot
I can imagine not liking Prototype, because it degenerated into a mindless button masher with a weak plot. Prototype 2 was slightly better and I mean just slightly. However, not liking Red Dead Redemption? Or Bioshock? I can respect if it's not your cup of tea, but those are hands down some of the best games this generation. Easy.
Hated the Masterpiece called Bioshock?, You lost any creditabilty you had when you said that, seriously?, your Gamer Status has been REVOKED. And "Journalism" is not your thing, you need a new career, bud, simple. YOU might not have liked Bioshock, cause maybe its not "YOUR TYPE OF GAME". But if your arent keen & TALENTED ENOUGH to see its a very well made game, then you JUST DONT have an eye for, & are unable to decifer a good game from a bad one, you have made the mistake of letting your PERSONAL TASTE get in the way of SEEING THE DIFFERENCE between good & badly designed games, & thats what an AMATUER does, not a Professional. Class Dismissed, & oh, step into my office, cause your FIRED!! lol
