While role-playing game (RPG) fans are all excited about the launch of Diablo 3, there's something to be said about Capcom's upcoming action-RPG, Dragon's Dogma, which releases next week Friday (25 May) to Xbox 360 and PS3.
Strange wording in the headline I had to say it out loud a few times....still sounds strange. On topic I really liked the demo. I think this game will be a little bit different than other RPG's. The pawn system looks very interesting.
As of late, I have been very put off by games for some reason or another. Even the biggest of releases kinda didn't do it for me. I have followed this game for quite a while and was still on the fence about it but desided to give it a go and I'm really glad I did. This game is FANTASTIC. I have that old feeling again of not being able to wait till I can pop it in again. I hate to say it but I think I enjoy this game more than Skyrim. The Combat is Awesome. Battles are furious and quick. Climbing on the back of a troll and hanging on for dear life while trying to slash it, all while he tries to shake me off is incredible. Also, the Pawn system is great. I love hearing my pawn say she has new quest information or sleeping and having the game tell me that she aided someone else on their travels and has returned with gifts. I highly recommend this game. The big battles alone are worth the price of addmission.
I'm about 8 hrs in the game already and IMO I believe its the best RPG to come out in a year. Whether my opinion of it later on the game changes, remains to be seen. But so far everything feels like a fresh new experience and yes, I think at the moment I like it better than Skyrim because of this. Skyrim is a great game but alot of elements of the game just felt like an updated rehash of Oblivon. I really love the pawn system, they are smart and I love all the chatter that goes on.. makes the game feel less lonely while wandering around. Also I love rating peoples pawns and gifting them with items also lol. Combat is awesome and the difficulty of the game is at the sweet spot. No more auto level of monsters and back to the good old days of exploration and danger at every corner. Love all the monster and character designs too... Only complaint is I wish the game had slightly better graphics like more high res textures.. but then again maybe its because I havent played my xbox in awhile and been spoilt by PC gaming. I suppose it does look pretty good for a console game. :)
