I really wanted Game of Thrones to be good. I really, really did. But compared with the quality of the HBO program and the original books, it just falls flat.
I generally don't like games based on TV/Movies. Goldeneye 007 (N64) may be the one exception for me to this day.
It's actually not based on the TV show but the books.
What's a book?
One day, there will be an awesome GoT game. Alas, today is apparently not that day.
Winter is coming, and not in a good way.
Game of Thrones has the potential for a great video game, but this one looks looks, smells and plays like a rush job put out in order to cash in on the second series.
I feel like Cyanide Studios may not be technically equipped to make a game in the scope that a Game of Thrones game requires. Look at their past work, for example. Game of Thrones: Genesis was, I believe, the game that was a rushed effort. Cyanide bought up the rights to this game because this was meant to be a passion project. That definitely is reflected in the art. Then again, I could be wrong. The game was released for an early May schedule to accommodate the return of the TV show.
It's really unfortunate. Cyanide clearly loves the Game of Thrones setting. They just don't have the resources to do it the justice it really needs. That said, only Bioware and Bethesda in the RPG would would have the resources to do it justice.
It surprising no publisher would give them the backing they needed. The show is HUGE at the moment so even if you had to see it from cold, clear financial point like a bitter old man with a glazed over look in his eyes that drinks scotch and regularly beats his wife, then its a sound investment to make because a Game of Thrones game done right would mean you'd pull in the fantasy lovers, the gamers that love a good RPG, fans of the show and books and people that just enjoy a good game.
Yo mama is a good television show. Guess you've watched it.
Can't say I've seen that...
Well, I just finished GoT, and must say that it's really good and definitely playable. There are minor glitches and dated graphics, but overall gameplay is decent, and story and dialogues mostly are just superb! Shame that Cianide was unable to develop a real AAA RPG. It could have been in one row with Witcher and DAO. For now, just try the game yourself, I really enjoyed it.
