Chris Matyskiel writes: "Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is Ironclad’s latest addition to its venerable line of real-time space strategy. For those who haven’t played any of the earlier offerings, Sins of a Solar Empire is 4X real-time strategy game with an Age of Sail feel. Capital ships, frigates and cruisers all pound away at each other as swarms of fighters and bombers mingle in space. I’d liken the look of it to the seventh season of Deep Space Nine, or possibly Babylon 5: huge, expansive battles with hundreds of ships shooting at one another, jockeying for position, and ultimately exploding. Games can be small, tight fights for systems of a dozen planets, or massive undertakings involving dozens of systems and hundreds of planets. Building on the lessons learned from the earlier Entrenchment and Diplomacy expansions, this new addition fills in the gaps between strike craft and frigates as well as introducing the super-massive titan class of ship. Rebellion also adds loyalist and rebel sects of each faction, with each adding new research options, individual titans, faction bonuses, and new philosophies to the game. Having pre-ordered the game, I received access to the Beta and got a good look at what the new expansion will look like."
The Humble Stardock Bundle 2019 is now live. It features games like Offworld Trading Company Gold, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, Galactic Civilizations III, and more. As usual, you pay what you want. A percentage goes to charity.
