The analogs are placed in the right spot makes it easy to hit the back triggers

dark-hollow4779d ago (Edited 4779d ago )

not only the analog stick, but the design has changed a little bit.

as you can see from the new model:
http://api.ning.com/files/u...

compared to the older one:
http://api.ning.com/files/o...

it looks like the new one is sleeker and much thinner.
the buttons arrangement has changed too. the XYBA buttons have moved a little bit to the screen and the -+ buttons are now on the left side of the controller.

P.S what the hell is that square thingy under the D-pad and between the power button and the green LED?

problemchild844779d ago

The square thing is probably little speakers I would think.

tokugawa4779d ago

hmmm i wonder how this would feel after a 3 or 4 hour battlefield session??

i will reserve judgement

crxss4779d ago

now if only the Wii U's controller had actual triggers instead of buttons, then i'd really consider getting it. at least this is a step in the right direction.

Ck1x4779d ago

@crXss: there aren't many shots of that angle of the controller, but it does have analogue triggers though! It has buttons and analogue triggers, pretty much everything one needs in a controller.

thehitman4778d ago

the square thingy maybe a mount actually thats holding the controller.

crxss4777d ago

hm... according to this the leaked image was one of their initial designs... still confused as to which one they're going to go with.

DA_SHREDDER4779d ago

Now if only they could add L3 R3 buttons then they will have all the controls necessary to start pwning noobs.

dmixwell4779d ago

good point. i can definitely get use to it. only bad thing about the pic is that this pretty much kills all the wii u name change rumors. was hoping for something a lil more super nintendoish

Nimblest-Assassin4779d ago

still not sold on the controller yet... but Im in no position to talk since I have never tried it...

farhad2k84778d ago

The analogs are placed in the wrong place for me, controller looks so uncomfortable.

Patriots_Pride4779d ago

This is legit. Alot of haters on here screaming about the Wii U controllers sucks but fail to realize that what Nintendo showed is not the final build and they are adding and making changes as we speak.

The guy from Gears Box that was praising the Wii U controller might have a more advance version of the controller so you people shouldn't be so quick to jump on him for saying that he is impressed.

KwietStorm_BLM4779d ago

What did it have before? Analog nubs?

Giants_Nation

EDI4779d ago

3DS like circle pads @KwietStorm

Patriots_Pride4779d ago (Edited 4779d ago )

It had circle pads like the 3DS.

Question: Has Nintendo filed for the patent for the Wii U controller yet? This would make it very hard for Sony or MS to try and copy if the Wii U takes off.

Click on the article and you'll see a picture of them.

Computersaysno4778d ago (Edited 4778d ago )

I still think no matter what they do to it it is going to feel like you are holding a tea tray or a big hardback book sideways. Ergonomics mean nothing?

Besides this humans only have 2 hands and short thumbs. It'll be one of those things where devs have to choose to use the normal controls or dump a load onto the screen, because you won't be quickly using both together in a game particularly easily. The screen is much larger than a DS.

I just still feel like it is a gimmick that doesn't really add anything game changing. It is less innovative than the motion controller Wii had, we have already seen this sort of thing on DS and i was never really excited for it to come to a home console.

If you are realistic you just know only Nintendo will use the controller well, and everybody else will go along with what we already know. Porting their games across from more popular platforms, shoving some weak screen functionality in there and saying job done.

Shovelware central once again. Prove me wrong, but i suspect i won't be and core gamers will quickly forget all about this as soon as Sony and Microsoft show their new hardware.

PopRocks3594779d ago

Well, I guess that's one less complaint from whiners should this turn out to be true.

kneon4779d ago

It's certainly better than the nubs, but it still looks like it could be one of the most awkward to use controllers ever made.

PopRocks3594779d ago

Reading some of the press previews, I doubt that. Almost every big news outlet has said it's light in weight and very comfortable hold.

Don't judge a book by its cover, as they say.

kneon4779d ago

But I seriously doubt any of the reviewers have had a chance to use it for several hours straight.

It may seem fine at first but that doesn't mean it will still be fine after a few hours of serious button mashing.

browngamer414779d ago

Actually it looks like the most amazing controller ever made..damn this thing looks hot-I guess though instead of advancing the medium we should just stick with the "status quo"

Knushwood Butt4779d ago

I think there needs to be some genuine justification to slap a big screen in the middle of my controller. By that, I mean a lot more than maps or inventory.

If there is, then fair enough.

If there isn't, then I'll stick with what I have, thanks.

Dude you need to stop writing in PR BS language! It's annoying and lame

dredgewalker4779d ago

I've heard that they're also gonna release 26 and 32 inch screen versions of this controller :P

Nathaniel_Drake4778d ago

XBLA Classic 'A World of Keflings' Is Coming to Steam, and There's a Demo

"Back in the innocent days of 2010, A World of Keflings was a fairly popular successor to A Kingdom for Keflings. I even wrote about it a few times in 2012! But the world of humans moved on, and NinjaBee's city-building/adventure game was last seen on the ill-fated Wii U in 2014. Fast-forward to the dark year of 2025, and not only is A World of Keflings coming to Steam, but there's already a playable demo! Perhaps the cheerful, no pressure gameplay that the Keflings bring is just what we need nowadays," says Co-Optimus.
