I have not played any of the console versions and basically I don't care for them. All I wanted was Wolverine (after watching the movie 2x, yeah sucker I am) for PSP.
The game is well balanced for the PSP and moves slick (fast action, though bosses and even some 'multipaths'. Recently I have seen some graphically high level games, which would slow down on the PSP (or were nice to see, but gameplay would lack). Wolverine is a very nice mix of action, story and bonusses. Besides the CGI and story that has nothing to do with the movie (yes, it is not some Movie runthrough in a game), it plays very nice. One of the few downs is the camera angle when running around a corner (and sometimes the o displaying but when you click it it is already gone, so you are standing around taking a beating).
The extras you can unlock make the game also worth while. I was playing for the last 3 days and got stuck in a cool level 'Cornered'. First I tried to play 'blind', then with senses, but failed (now I find out only barely). I restarted the game from scratch on easy and now I want to finish it and play it again and get all the bonus on normal too. The audio files and videos are cool, but the fact that even on the PSP you get different costums is awesome.
The sound quality (using a Senheiser headset) is very good, ambient sounds are great and comparing to for instance Tenchu Shadow Assassins and Spiderman Web of Shadows, the speech ads a lot to the game.
Basically I would say in perspective of the console it is on and the place you play it, I say: 7/10 or 8/10.
A definite must for Wolverine fans, for general action genre lovers on PSP I would say: If you like Tenchu or Killzone on PSP, you most likely will love the speed and actions in Wolverine.

This list reminds me how there needs to be more good DC videos games that don’t star Batman in any way. Marvel at least has a vast amount of different staring characters across multiple quality games
The Wolf Among Us is the only other one I can think of.
Ultimate Spider Man is the ultimate gem that didn't aged much and much better that all spiderman games that came afterwards.
xmen legends 1 & 2 were really good. Xmen 2 on genesis awesome..Maximum carnage was great.. Xmen arcade was legendary.. Marvel vs Capcom series are some of the best fighting games ever made.. Spiderman PS4 will be incredibly amazing..
