Story - Mortal Kombat 9 Brings you back to Mortal Kombat 1 though 3 in a very unique way to reboot the series. The beggining of the game brings you to the ending of Armageddon, Where it shows how everyone is dead after trying to climb the tower, where Raiden and Shao Kahn are the last ones alive. Raiden is getting his ass handed to him and right before he dies he sends a message to himself in the past where he now must try to stop Armageddon from happening.
The game begins in Mortal Kombat 1 where liu kang must defeat the Evil Shang Tsung to save earthrealm i won't go into specifics but the story is very good.
This game has a challenge tower with 300 missions that are challenging more towards the end but are very fun. In some battles you fight armless, headless, or some fights you can't block but they're very fun indeed.
The mode i had the most fun in was Test Your Luck. It's a mode where a roulette wheel where you has random modes, like Dark Combat, Confused Combat, Upside down combat. It also has some very fun stuff like super fast uppercuts, zombie mode, and turbo mode. Trust me when i say this is very entertaining.
RANTS!

A few bad things i found was that the online lags sometimes.
When you finish the story you cannot select what chapter you want to play on, instead you start in the begginging again.
Reptile looks horrible! the Reptile from Armageddon looked better, thats just me i am definatly going to buy classic costumes for these guys just to cover reptiles face lol.
Salman from Tech4Gamers writes "Mortal Kombat 9 revived the series from a low point after bringing it back to 2D combat. It marked a new high-point for the franchise due to its incredible roster, exciting cinematic story mode, and high-octane combat."
That game was actually goated. It was the first time ever that I actually tried to get good at a fighting game. Unfortunately the online connection was so dogshit it made it hard to enjoy and eventually I gave up. Haven't really played much fighting games since.
The catched the woke virus after that, saying for MK 10 that "Female Characters Will Be More Realistically Proportioned". You could still rip a spine or blow a head in a bloody explosion, but don't you dare to show a side boob or all hell will break loose.
GB: "More than perhaps any other genre, fighting games offer the kind of mechanical depth that you can lose yourself in for years. Learning the ins and outs, learning and perfecting combos, and so many other things that make this one of the most competitive genres in gaming, even on a professional level now. But you don’t have to be playing against another human to be challenged in a fighting game. Throughout the years, this genre has thrown multiple final bosses at us that have got us all collectively pulling our hair out. In this feature, we’ll be taking a look at fifteen such fights."
Isshin the sword Saint was the hardest boss I ever beat. And I've been playing games for 30 years
I went through the clickfest, it's shameful; more than usual that is, lower than gamingbolt standards, Congrats GB you've reached a new low.
CG writes: Despite Ed Boon going on record suggesting he would have rather toned down the “mature” looks of the ladies in Mortal Kombat 9 (ignoring the extreme violence) how well do the designs stack up over the years? We take a look at select Mortal Kombat female characters and compare them from Mortal Kombat 9 in 2011 through to the latest Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019. It’s rather interesting to not only see the graphical differences, but also how the design changed from porn star looking fighters to more realistic characters.
Mortal Kombat was always over the top, with the violence and character design. It seems dumb to suddenly become a puritan regarding boobs, but then remain just as silly with the violence and fatalities.
Could it just be different artist and tech? I think with MK9 they had the characters looking over the top cartoony to downright ugly, due to the limitations of the 360 and PS3 at the time, then with X you could see they were moving to a more realistic design, and now with 11 it seems that goal of realistic design has been reached now that they've seem to have perfected the facial technology with Injustice 2.
I think the costume designs for the majority of the characters are pretty realistic within context, while still making them look unique and cool.
The character designs of mk11 are the best in the series so far, the 2011 designs look ahemm...not very feminine to be honest
Nice review, great game
Don't really get the whole "When you finish story you star back from the beggining."
As a negative, seems fairly no shit sherlock to me. However good review regardless.
Yes, the online really brings it down... It is painful how much I get owned though, anyway.
And no, don't ask me why I'm reading a review for a game I already own. I am a dumbass.
i want to give this game a 7 but if i did, it would only because i suck at it.
it's a really good game that will be brutal on casual fighters (me) but great for the players with skills.
its a game that goes back to its roots and does a lot of things well. if i rated it id probably give it the same score you did.
