Mortal Kombat 9......
A game we were waiting for from 2010…..a great game that came after the “Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe”.
It features the basic 26 characters which appeared in Mortal Kombat: Trilogy and Ultimate Mortal Kombat: 3.
It is about that earthrealm fighters lose in Armageddon and the only two left (alive) are Shao Kahn and Raiden….so they fight together….and just about Raiden dies he sends a message to his past (MK I).
So were going to see a retell of the story but some things may have changed…as an example we all know Smoke is in a cyborg form…but here Sub-zero changes into cyborg instead of him…
It also reveals some of the “Whys” (why did he….):
It tells us how kabal got this mask….how subzero and scorpion died and resurrected…how did Shinnok made his debut…who is mileena? And much much more…
Now let’s talk about the gameplay:
It features many “NEW” modes as example:
• Test Your Luck
• Test Your Might
• Ladder Tag
• Ladder Team
• Nekropolice
• X-ray
• Animated Babalities
• Enhanced moves
• Secret character must meet conditions to fight….and much more.
The graphics are great….it supports 3D and 3D sounds. The colors are cool…skin details are perfect. new costumes and more fun trophies. The combos are great which are easily done and it allows combos to be created (up to 70% damage and up to 15 hits combo (or more) ). New special moves and fatalities. Secret fatalities and training modes.
Although this game includes story mode… it lacks the ability to move around and walk in that mode. So you only see cutscenes (which can’t be skipped) then you fight…but the good thing about the cutscenes is that it continues from the cutscene to the fight with a slight difference in the graphics (videos have more graphic goods than gameplay). And the speech said will change according to the match conditions.
The “300 Challenge Tower” also adds the fun and - remove the bored mood -. It allows us to play with many characters then play a mode that begins with “Test Your”.
It is really good game…sorry for it being banned in Australia.
GB: "More than perhaps any other genre, fighting games offer the kind of mechanical depth that you can lose yourself in for years. Learning the ins and outs, learning and perfecting combos, and so many other things that make this one of the most competitive genres in gaming, even on a professional level now. But you don’t have to be playing against another human to be challenged in a fighting game. Throughout the years, this genre has thrown multiple final bosses at us that have got us all collectively pulling our hair out. In this feature, we’ll be taking a look at fifteen such fights."
Isshin the sword Saint was the hardest boss I ever beat. And I've been playing games for 30 years
I went through the clickfest, it's shameful; more than usual that is, lower than gamingbolt standards, Congrats GB you've reached a new low.
CG writes: Despite Ed Boon going on record suggesting he would have rather toned down the “mature” looks of the ladies in Mortal Kombat 9 (ignoring the extreme violence) how well do the designs stack up over the years? We take a look at select Mortal Kombat female characters and compare them from Mortal Kombat 9 in 2011 through to the latest Mortal Kombat 11 in 2019. It’s rather interesting to not only see the graphical differences, but also how the design changed from porn star looking fighters to more realistic characters.
Mortal Kombat was always over the top, with the violence and character design. It seems dumb to suddenly become a puritan regarding boobs, but then remain just as silly with the violence and fatalities.
Could it just be different artist and tech? I think with MK9 they had the characters looking over the top cartoony to downright ugly, due to the limitations of the 360 and PS3 at the time, then with X you could see they were moving to a more realistic design, and now with 11 it seems that goal of realistic design has been reached now that they've seem to have perfected the facial technology with Injustice 2.
I think the costume designs for the majority of the characters are pretty realistic within context, while still making them look unique and cool.
The character designs of mk11 are the best in the series so far, the 2011 designs look ahemm...not very feminine to be honest
While Mortal Kombat XI features a great variety of new characters, we decided to pick cosplay based on the series’ classic fighters that have been present in the franchise for years
Nice
I have to agree;
Best MK ever!
PS; the Story mode is very refreshing & Tag-Team iz craaazy!
Just got this today and have played the first 10 of challenge mode and just got upto Scorpions section in the story- AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME, I thought the x-rays would lose their shock after a couple of fights but they really don't.
Coolest fighting game I've played in a looonngggg time (I like Street Fighter but can only play in small doses due to extreme frustration at losing all the time haha)
The lag on the X-Ray is supposed to be like that. Like a Slowmo effect! :P
Also It lags with Quan Chi thingy at the back~!
