I have been waiting for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom like many people for years now, and I cannot wait to Shield Surf from the top of a Sky Island all the way to the ground below! Yet is Shield Surfing in Tears of the Kingdom the same as Breath of the Wild, or have they changed it since BotW? I have the answers in my shield surf guide.

To Shield Surf in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the exact same way in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Do note. You must have a shield equipped to do this. Don’t go leaping off a cliff as I did, thinking you had a shield equipped (it got destroyed in a fight against a Guardian), then rag-dolling to your death.
Shield surfing is a fun activity to do in various locations, like grassy hills, sandy deserts, and snow-covered slopes and is basically Link on a skateboard. Keep in mind Shield Surfing friction wears down your Shield’s durability, so it’s best to use a basic shield instead of your best one, but in my experience, the basic Shield may not last long. Momentum also helps you gain speed. Also, softer surfaces are more friendly to your Shield, while rocky mountains and any upward slope are less ideal.
You can also press the jump button while Shield Surfing, and if you take out your bow while in mid-air, time will slow down, and you’ll have more aim to nail those headshots in Tears of the Kingdom!
