If you were wondering whether or not the weapon breaking mechanic was going to make a return in Tears of the Kingdom, then wonder no more. The mechanic that was first introduced in Breath of the Wild is indeed also present in the sequel.
We’ll be going through what you need to know about acquiring these breakable weapons, as well as what weapon isn’t breakable.

What Weapons Are Breakable in Tears of the Kingdom
So, you want to get your hands on a breakable weapon in Tears of the Kingdom? Well, all you have to do is grab the nearest tree branch or random sword or spear you can get your hands on and you would have gotten a breakable weapon.
Don’t get what we mean? Well, almost every weapon in Tears of the Kingdom is a breakable weapon, just like how it was in Breath of the Wild. This means that every weapon you grab will have a set amount of durability. Using the weapon will wither down its durability until it eventually breaks. From tree branches to swords, every weapon has a predetermined durability.
If you were thinking that your weapons breaking is no issue since you’ll just repair them, well, we regret to inform you that weapons cannot be repaired in Tears of the Kingdom. They could not have been repaired in Breath of the Wild either, and it seems the feature has been carried on to the sequel.
How to Extend Durability of Weapons
Fortunately, Tears of the Kingdom brings a way for players to extend the durability of their weapons. If you watched the trailers and gameplay of ToTK, then you might know about the brand new fuse ability the game grants Link.
Well, by fusing something like a rock with your weapon, you’ll be able to increase not only the damage it deals but also the total durability of that weapon. This means a fused weapon will break slower than an unfused weapon of the same type. Like this, you’ll be able to use weapons you like for a longer amount of time instead of having to scavenge for new weapons all the time.
If you like a weapon a lot, then you can, in theory, use it for as long as you want. You see, when you attach something like a rock on top of a weapon, the rock will run out of durability first, and the durability of the ‘bottom’ weapon will be unaffected. In this scenario, you can simply fuse the weapon with another rock to keep it going for longer.
Are All Weapons Breakable in Tears of the Kingdom?
No, not ALL weapons are breakable. However, over 90% are. The only weapon we know of so far that does not break is the perfect Master Sword. The same was true for Breath of the Wild, and we don’t expect it to be any different here. Of course, you’ll have to repair the Master Sword first as it’ll be in a rather sorry state at the start of the game.
