How Do You Fly in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
To fly in Tears of the Kingdom, you need to create and then ride a vehicle that’s capable of flying in the sky. This can be done by using the brand new Ultrahand ability. As a matter of fact, near the start of the game, you’ll be able to take to the air using the Zonai Wing. However, that will be less flying and more gliding, so we aren’t counting that.
Another thing we aren’t counting is using the Paraglider that was also in Breath of the Wild. As is in the name, the Paraglider simply allows you to fall slowly instead of straight up flying. Think of it as similar to Batman’s cape in the Arkham games. While it’s true that we can stay in the air by using it, we can’t really classify it as flying, right?

How To Make Flying Vehicles in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Stick a couple of propellers at the bottom of a platform using the Ultrahand ability, with the propeller facing downward, and strike it with a weapon. This will cause the propellers to activate, allowing the vehicle to take flight by going directly upward. Just ensure you’re on the platform when it goes up, otherwise, you might miss it.
Alternatively, it’s also possible to build a hot air balloon using the Ultrahand ability. Stick a balloon at the top of a platform, and then a propeller in between the platform and balloon. Get on the platform, and then strike the propeller to activate it. The wind of the propeller will give flight to the balloon, which will, in turn, make the entire platform fly.
Also, remember the Zonai Wing we mentioned earlier? Well, although it’s true that initially, it won’t be flying in its base form, as soon as you get access to some Zonai fans, you’ll be able to attach them to the Zonai Wing. This will allow you to truly fly using it. You’ll be able to adjust the speed and range of the wing depending on how many fan/propellers you attach to it.
Can You Reach Sky Islands With Flying Vehicles in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?
Yes, you can use flying vehicles to reach Sky Islands. Zonai Wings are a great way to fly through the sky and go from island to island. You will need rockets or fans to truly power it, but this is a small price to pay to explore the lands above. If you are short on Flying Vehicle parts, you can use Skyview Towers to get in the air and land on one of the Sky Islands.
Best Zonai Devices For Flying Vehicles in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
I have had a blast using Zonai Rockets and Zonai Fans to power my flying vehicles. These aren’t necessary to get airborne, but using them increases your speed and distance. Blimps are another great way to explore the skies, but you need a fire source, such as the Zonai Flame Emitter to power them.
A Zonai Steering Stick is a great way to gain control over your flying vehicles. This lets Link not only build flying vehicles with his new abilities, but control them. Without this device, you are at the whim of your creation and physics.
