The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom expands the kingdom of Hyrule far beyond what we saw in the last installment, Breath of the Wild. This is great news for those looking to log long hours in the game. However, traversing the expansive open world can be pretty time-consuming in and of itself, so you’ll want to fast travel when you can.
Luckily, there are a handful of ways to get around quickly, including in-game fast travel features and all-new Skyview Tower locations. Of course, you’ll need to make some progress in Tears of the Kingdom to unlock each method before you’re able to utilize them.
To save you some time, we’ve outlined how to fast travel in Tears of the Kingdom as well as other ways you can cross the kingdom of Hyrule in no time at all.
How Do You Fast Travel in Tears of the Kingdom?
Just like in Breath of the Wild, you can fast travel between Shrines and other locations in Tears of the Kingdom. However, these features aren’t available at the start of the game. Rather, you’ll need to make some progress in the main story to unlock each of the following methods of fast travel:
- Shrines
- Travel Medallions
- Lightroots
- Skyview Towers

How to Fast Travel Between Shrines
To fast travel between Shrines in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll need to complete the first three Shrines on Great Sky Island and obtain three Lights of Blessing. Then, you can travel between each of these locations via your Purah Pad at any time.
To fast travel between Shrines:
- Open your Purah Pad by pressing Up on the D-Pad.
- Select the Shrine you wish to travel to.
How to Fast Travel with Travel Medallions in Tears of the Kingdom
In order to fast travel with Travel Medallions in Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll first have to unlock them by completing Robbie’s tasks later on in the game. With Travel Medallions, you can set teleportation points on your map via the Purah Pad. Although you’ll only get three, using Travel Medallions allows you to pinpoint specific locations and travel between them.

How to Fast Travel with Lightroots in Tears of the Kingdom
Found in the Depths region by entering Chasms later on in Tears of the Kingdom, Lightroots can be used as points for fast travel. Each corresponds with a Shrine on the Surface region of Hyrule, so familiarizing yourself with their locations will prove relatively easy with time. However, keep in mind that the Depths mirrors the Surface and will appear opposite on the map.
How to Fast Travel from Skyview Towers in Tears of the Kingdom
While Skyview Towers don’t allow you to fast travel in the traditional sense of the phrase, they do allow you to get from point A to point B pretty quickly in Tears of the Kingdom. When you enter a Skyview Tower, you’ll be shot to the top and prompted to either Sky Dive or paraglide to your desired location, shaving some time off your ETA.
Apart from these methods, building vehicles with Link’s Ultrahand ability and taming horses can both help you get around faster on your Tears of the Kingdom playthrough. Combined, there’s a long list of ways to make your travels easier as you attempt to save the kingdom.
