Why Doesn’t Wuthering Waves Have a Cutscene Replay Gallery?

Three Wuthering Waves characters

Wuthering Waves is one of the best gacha games of today, with engaging gameplay and awesome visuals. One of the best parts of WuWa is that all the in-game cutscenes are done “in-engine”. That means that there is no difference between actual gameplay and cutscenes. Other games usually have their cutscenes “filmed” in a different engine to the game, for better visuals, but Kuro stuck with their idea, and the fans love it. Speaking of cutscenes, unfortunately, you can only watch them “live”. There is no in-game option to replay them and players would love for that to be changed.

Other Kuro Games Have the Option to Replay Cutscenes

To further prove the point that WuWa needs a gallery of important cutscenes, players state the fact that another Kuro game, Punishing: Gray Raven, has one. The games are pretty similar and PGR has some great features that WuWa borrowed, so the fans wonder why the cutscene gallery isn’t borrowed as well.

Redditor BeamyBonkO asked this question, saying: “Hope someday they will add Cutscenes to replay and watch like PGR one day.” More players agree with comments like “yeah yeah this is going into my next survey” and “yes pls yes pls”.

What’s Stopping Them?

While we can’t know for sure, a lot of players think that this would increase the storage space required for the game, which can be an issue with players playing on their phones, stating that it happened to other games. The solution would be to add the option to delete past quest data. To clarify, games tend to collect and keep data from previous quests indefinitely, and over time that can take up a lot of your space. If you add cutscenes to the mix, that can result in WuWa requiring way too much storage space, which can be a problem with the limited storage drives phones usually have.

On the other hand, others claim that the fact that the cutscenes are in-engine means they would not take up considerably more space than the game already demands. But, that leads to a different issue, as pointed out by Andrew583-14 on that same post. The problem is that it would be quite tricky to save in-engine cutscenes since every playthrough is different and there would be a lot that the game would have to factor in. It would be only applicable to pre-rendered cutscenes, which WuWa is lacking.

While the idea itself is great, the implementation would be tricky at best. However, we may yet see some unexpected improvements in future updates.
