Wuthering Waves is a game with awesome design, gameplay, and so much content. One of the more popular game “modes” is the Depths of Illusive Realm, which is a game mode as close to roguelike as WuWa can get. With a new event underway, called Carnival in Slumberland, discussions concerning Depths of Illusive Realm are on again.
Some Players Want More Replayability…
One player, named babakir on Reddit, started a discussion, saying that Depths of Illusive Realm has so much potential, but the replayability could do with some improvements, especially the rewards. “For a mode with so much potential replayability via randomness and rogue-like elements, the fact that the incredibly tiny pool of rewards can be obtained in one playthrough of each difficulty gives little reason to replay.”
They continue saying that on top of it all, the mode does not offer any challenge. “…it’s pretty easy, now with all chars being lvl 80 for high difficulties…I wish they could expand Illusive real rewards and difficulty to have just as much longevity.”
…While Others Argue That Everything Is Fine As it Is
On the other hand, a lot more players defend the current state of Depths of Illusive Realm. They argue that it is nice and simple just the way it is, and that there is no need to complicate it further. “Having to grind out massive content…just forces me to play [the game] and it ends up wearing out its welcome very quickly when I have other games I want to play or other things I want to do inside of the game itself” said IeyasuTheMonkey. Concerning difficulty, ssmoke111 proposed: “Honestly I think the optional modifiers are the best way to add difficulty “
It all boils down to how much time you’re willing to invest in Depths of Illusive Realm. More replayability is fine if playing WuWa is one of your main hobbies. But, as others mentioned, if you’re playing more than one game, or want to explore other aspects of the game, then Illusive Realm is fine just the way it is. “The current Illusive Realm is quite nice and simple,” said Thoracicbowl and IeyasuTheMonkey further added “…currently the way Illusive Realm is set up is perfect as it’s a non-heavy time commitment part of the game which is refreshed once per patch with updates to the system every patch so far.”
