Will Zelda Tears of the Kingdom be getting DLC?
Fortunately for fans of the series, Nintendo seems to have revealed its intentions to add DLC in the future for Tears of the Kingdom as well. This revelation has come in the form of a small blurb at the bottom of their official game page, which states:
“Full version of the game required to use DLC for that game. Sold separately.”
Though this sounds like pretty concrete evidence that we’ll be seeing DLC for Tears of the Kingdom at some point down the line, it is also important to consider that this might just be part of the boilerplate description that a game is supposed to have. If that is the case, it does not disprove speculation regarding the game receiving DLC, though it doesn’t help that case either.
From a marketing perspective, it doesn’t seem unlikely that Nintendo will want to expand one of their most popular IPs, which took a noticeably long time to develop, with DLC rather than abandoning the game post-release. So, regardless of whether or not we receive official confirmation in the upcoming weeks before the game’s official launch, fans can be assured that DLC is most likely in development.
The gameplay showcases a lot of aerial exploration, a departure from the first game. It remains to be seen what new elements the potential DLC might add to the game, but fans can eagerly anticipate the release to find out.
What was Zelda Breath of the Wild’s DLC?
Zelda Breath of the Wild, which was released in 2018, enjoyed a pretty sizeable lifespan with updates and DLC packs being released following its expected popularity.
The first DLC pack dubbed The Master Trials added new challenges, a new map feature, and a Master Mode difficulty level. The second DLC pack, The Champions’ Ballad, included new story content, a new dungeon, and four new Champion Amiibo figures. These DLC packs could be purchased individually or as part of the game’s Expansion Pass.
