How To Get a Broom in Hogwarts Legacy

The brooms of Hogwarts Legacy become much more important when you decide to leave the school and explore the countryside nearby. However, the game won’t tell you how close you are to unlocking it or when it will be available. This is school, and you learn what you need to learn when it’s time.

Still, it’s more fun knowing exactly when it’s coming.

How To Unlock the Broom in Hogwarts Legacy

After you finish Jackdaw’s Rest, you’ll get a quest called Flying Class. It’s exactly what you think it is. Madame Kogawa will teach you how to fly on your broom. Just go to the location marked on your map, shown below.

The lesson will only show up beginning on the second scripted day, so when the game makes you go to bed for the first time, you are entering the second scripted day. We’re not counting the day-night cycle as plot days.

Everett Clopton will offer to show you an impromptu tour of Hogwarts Castle after you’re done. After the broom lesson, we will discuss whether or not to accept his offer.

Should I Accept Everett Clopton’s Offer to Tour Hogwarts?

You’ll get a great view of the school and a chance to spend time with Everett, but you’ll lose class points when it’s over. We recommend doing it if you haven’t done it before, but you can skip it on your next playthrough.

Where To Buy a Broom in Hogsmeade

After finishing your shenanigans, you can purchase your own broom at Spintwitch’s Sporting Needs. It was closed when you first arrived at Hogwarts, but it has now been unlocked. This is the same place where you learned how to fly a broom.

The broom will be 600 galleons, which will be a lot if you have yet to do much exploring. If you don’t have enough, go ahead and take out more enemies, then sell your gear until you have enough.

How to upgrade your broom in Hogwarts Legacy

You can upgrade your broom by completing three quests:

  • Flight Test (first upgrade)
  • Sweeping the Competition (second upgrade)
  • The Sky is the Limit (final upgrade)

To complete Flight Test, you’ll need to beat Imelda Reyes’ score in the Quidditch Pitch. When you’ve done so, go to Spintwitches Sporting Needs and speak to Albie to complete the quest. He’ll send you an Owl Post and let you know you can upgrade your broom for 1,000 Galleons.

Talk to Albie again to start Sweeping the Competition. You just need to make it to the leaderboard for this race, but it’s harder. After you complete the quest, return to Albie, and then you’ll have to wait for another Owl Post. This upgrade will be 4,000 Galleons.

The next mission is the Sky is the Limit, requiring you to make it onto the leaderboard again. It’s long, so if you want to place, you’ll have to avoid making any mistakes. The gold bubbles are your only chance to increase your speed because your regular speed won’t allow you to make it. Talk to Albie and wait for his Owl Post when you’re done.

The final upgrade costs 7,500 Galleons.

When Can I Use My Broom Outside of Missions?

Before you can finally use the broom you bought, you have to go to the Quidditch Pitch and speak to Imelda Reyes. Imelda will have you do a simple flight test that will unlock your broom completely.
