Great news for all Marvel Rivals fans and Steam Deck users. According to the devs, the game will work just fine on your device, starting on release day. Marvel Rivals is set to drop at midnight (UCT) on December 6 (December 5, 4 PM PST).
Steam Deck Users Will Get to Play Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals is a soon-to-be-released third-person hero shooter video game. It’s developed and published by NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. This game will be free-to-play. The current lineup consists of 33 characters from the Marvel Universe.
According to several sources, and many, many players who witnessed it, the Marvel Rivals developers confirmed that the game would be compatible with Steam Deck during a live Q&A on the official Discord.
Miller Ross wrote a full report on the Q&A. This gamer noted: “Marvel Rivals will support Steam Deck at launch, with some minor cutscene display glitches that are actively being resolved in collaboration with Valve. Source: Discord Q&A”.
Players Are Worried About System Requirements
Many Steam Deck users were quite excited by the news. One player, Mazbt, noted: “Really good news. This game isn’t really on my radar but more games with Steam Deck support (or at the very least able to launch and play it) is always a good thing”.
However, there are some concerns in the Steam Deck community about how Marvel Rivals will run. This game has high requirements, so it’s possible that there will be some potential issues. One Redditor, jjalapeno55, noted: “Hoping it’s actually good, I know 30 FPS is the baseline for verified. Hoping we can at least get a locked 40”.
