Even though the release date hasn’t been announced yet, the hype is already palpable. According to the latest news, Silent Hill f will be Playable on the Steam Deck. Let’s see what that means!
Silent Hill f Should Be Playable on Steam Deck
As you know by now, a game can be Steam Deck Verified (runs smoothly), Playable (runs with minor issues), or Unverified (some might run well, some can’t run at all). The majority of games get their Verified/Playable status either right before the launch, or they start off as Unverified and earn their status along the way.
However, some games get their status well before they are launched. And, it seems that this possibly melee-only game might be one of those games. Even though the publisher (Konami Digital Entertainment) and the developer (NeoBards Entertainment) haven’t announced it yet, the game is marked as Playable on SteamDB.
As for why the game is Playable and not Verified, there are a couple of reasons. First: “Some in-game text is small and may be difficult to read”. And second: ” This game requires manual configuration of graphics settings to perform well on Steam Deck”.
Of course, it’s not all bad news. The Steam Deck Compatibility section also states: ” All functionality is accessible when using the default controller configuration. This game shows Steam Deck controller icons”.
As you know, just because a game is Verified/Playable doesn’t always mean it will run perfectly, at least in the beginning. Remember the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered chaos when the game was Verified? Or even Marvel Rivals, which is only Playable, but players still expected more?
For the time being, at least, we suggest you shouldn’t raise your hopes too high. We’re sure the devs are working hard on the game, but until you try it, you won’t know exactly how well it runs. So, enjoy some other games before Silent Hill f drops, and we’ll see you then for a final check-in.
