Reaction Time in Valorant Is Crucial So Here’s How to Improve It

In a first-person shooter, even milliseconds could make a huge difference. In Valorant, having a good aim, or being lucky can help, but your reaction time is what will get you a win in the end. Players share the best tips that will get you that advantage needed to win.

Valorant Players Suggest Being Well-Rested

If you’ve ever played Valorant for hours on end (we certainly did), you may have noticed that the longer you play, somehow the slower you react. Maybe your eyes are tired, or your hands are stiff, or it’s also possible that you just aren’t hydrated.

Goldenflame89 explained: ” Most of the time when you play for longer sessions the reason you fall off in aim isn’t because you somehow got tired. It’s because you are dehydrated and your body is slowing down”. Also, if you haven’t eaten in a while, low blood sugar may even cause slight tremors.

If you are well-fed and hydrated and you are still having trouble with your reaction times, try sleeping a little longer. If our muscles, in this case, eye muscles, aren’t well rested, we are mostly likely to miss cues, or react slowly.

Another important thing that could help with your reaction time is the color of enemy outlines in Valorant. Many players suggested changing the enemy outlines to yellow. Reportedly, the brain registers yellow the fastest. Alternatively, make your crosshair and the enemy outlines complementary colors, as the contrast between them would be the greatest. Several players recommended choosing red outlines and green crosshairs.

Maybe It Isn’t Your Reaction Time but Something Else

Valorant community loves helping its fellow players. Many fans pointed out that lack of experience could be the root cause of a slow response. If you were unsure what you were doing, then you’d hesitate and miss the opportunity.

Pekseli noted: “A big part of reaction time is also prediction, the readiness to react. If you predict that an opponent will peek or flash you, you will react faster. You will naturally get better at this by just playing more”.

Of course, it might not be your fault, at all. One player, Itsyaboibrett, suggested: “Make sure you’re getting decent frames. I have a decent setup but play on low-quality everything so I get a consistent 200FPS”.

We’d also suggest getting a comfortable chair and adjusting it to the perfect height. You’d be surprised at how much small changes could contribute. Also, actively work on your focus, it might be hard at first, but over time it will become a habit and contribute a lot. Trying different tactics, like corner camping, could also help you, as staying in one place will give you an advantage over the opponent. And, probably the best tip is to relax and enjoy the game.
