There are a lot of parameters that contribute to your overall damage in TFD, and one of the important ones is the Crit Rate (both for weapons and for Skills). It is a chance to deal double (or more) damage, and a lot of Skill-focused characters benefit from a high Skill Crit Rate. That’s why you can see a lot of builds based on improving the Skill Crit Rate (and Crit Damage) as much as possible, so you can wipe everything with a push of a button. But, what characters benefit the most from a crit-based build? The players give their thoughts on that subject.

When to Focus on Crit Builds For The Best Results?

In a recent Reddit thread, user MuggoThedog asked when is best to make a crit build. The gist is that crit builds are not effective with all characters, nor with all abilities. Skills with high base damage, short cooldowns, or natural crit scaling benefit the most from crit-focused builds, as well as Skills that deal continuous damage. “Generally the more instances of skill damage, such as doing ten small hits instead of one big one, the more consistent crit becomes,” said MutantDemocracy.

The most important thing you can do is to check the base Skill Crit Rate of your characters. You can do so from the Inventory screen, by pressing the Go To Info button (W on the keyboard). It will open the info screen where you can see the base stats of the selected Descendant.

The simple rule you can follow is:

• 15% and more base Crit Rate – Definitely run a Crit build.
• 10% base Crit Rate – Not ideal, but it could work.
• 5% or lower Crit Rate – Maybe skip on the Crit Build.

As for the characters, silveredge7 put it best: “I’d like to mention that you should only build crit on descendants that are designed around crits. Eg:-

• Hailey/Sharen – have skills that gives flat base crit. (Sharen has high base crit in itself)
• Viessa(Absolute Zero module) – flat base crit Viessa(Cold bloodedness) – crit rate boosted by Blue bettle since her 3 of her skills are singular
• Ines – passive boosts crit rate
• Valby(Supple Moisture module) – flat base crit”

So in conclusion, the best characters for a crit build, are Hailey, Sharen, Viessa, Ines, and Valby. As for the others, check their base Skill Crit Rate to see if investing in Crit Rate would be worthwhile.
