The second update of Season 2 will be a huge one. We already covered all the new features coming to TFD on January 16, as well as the Ines Raya preview. Now, let’s see all the upcoming Descendant and QoL changes, coming to The First Descendant with the second update of Season 2, announced in the most recent dev livestream.
The First Descendant Season 2 QoL Improvements and Character Changes
Hard Special Operations Changes
The Hard Resource Defense mission will be moved from Fortress to Echo Swamp, and the Hard Block Kuiper Mining mission will be moved from White-night Gulch to Sterile Land.
Furthermore, we’ll get to see more Elite and Champion Vulgus (resulting in more rare crafting materials). Additionally, Supersaturated Solution, a component needed for Advanced Shape Stabilizer research (explained below), can be farmed in Hard Special Operations.
Mission Support System Changes
The Mission Support System will be improved in the next update. Rarely anyone knows it even exists, so it was almost never used. It is like an SOS Beacon, but only available when you’re on a mission and you can access it via the in-game main menu (when you press Esc on the keyboard). So it is no wonder no one used it.
Now, the system will receive a rehaul. Eckert will be the NPC responsible for this, and with his help, you will access the Support Requests menu. You’ll be presented with a list of Requests, showing the missions, players, their Mastery levels, and elapsed time of all the ongoing missions where the players asked for help. Selecting one of them will, presumably, teleport you right into the action.
The devs mentioned that a more sophisticated party search system is in the works, and is targeted to be released in March.
Advanced Shape Stabilizer Research
With the second Season 2 update, we’ll get the option to craft Advanced Shape Stabilizers, instead of relying on missions and ETA-0. You can research them at Anais’, requiring a “regular” Shape Stabilizer that you want to upgrade to the Advanced version, Supersaturated Solution, Repton, and Monad Shards.
Copy/Paste Loadouts
Being able to copy and paste your loadouts between characters was a highly requested feature and will finally be added to the game. The Copy and Paste buttons will be added on January 16, so you don’t have to select every Module manually anymore. It is way easier to paste a loadout and then tweak it a little bit than to select every Mod one by one.
Note that this feature will only work for your own loadouts for now, ie, other payers cannot “send” you their builds. The option to do so will most likely be added in the future when they allow checking out other players’ builds and details. Once again, the target for this feature is the March update.
Descendant Balance Changes
Jayber
Jayber can summon new turrets without removing the old ones first. Furthermore, the Multi-Purpose Gun gains the area-of-effect shots, making it easier to target your turrets. The Medical Compulsion Module will also receive some updates, but the devs did not go into more detail on this one.
Luna
Luna finally got some reworks, but not much. From January 16, her abilities will have a shorter buildup, meaning you will get to the full effect much faster. Furthermore, the notes will change only when using enhanced Skills, meaning staying on the same song will be way easier now. Furthermore, the penalty for failing to hit a note will be reduced and the Noise Surge skill Module will be improved to deal extra damage.
As for movement, you’ll be able to move and jump while using enhanced Skills.
Valby
Valby will get some smoother movement transitions and the highly-requested ability to jump (and double-jump) while surfing. The Laundry Bomb will also be improved, with faster shooting and the peculiar ability to absorb other Landry Bombs to create a huge bubble, drawing in and damaging enemies.
Another huge improvement is that while Valby is standing in her water, she will always regenerate MP regardless of whether she’s fighting or not. Lastly, her Singing Water Skill Module will gain a small buff, adding an explosion when the Seduction of Water duration expires, further damaging all those taunted enemies.
Nexon is really doing a good job with these changes, even though we expected a bit more work on Luna. But still, this goes to show that the game is moving in the right direction.
