The First Descendant August Update Preview and Features

The First Descendant Karel and two henchmen

The long-anticipated August update is almost upon us. It promises to add a new playable character while another Descendant will get their own Ultimate version, a new Colossus, weapons, and more. We only had a general idea of what was coming until now. With the release of 1.0.4 Patch, the devs gave us more precise info about the upcoming features and additions. So, let’s see the preview of the upcoming update and what will be added to The First Descendant on August 1.

Preview of The First Descendant August Update

As previously mentioned, Valby will get an Ultimate variant, Luna is coming as a playable Descendant, and a new Colossus named Gluttony will be added, along with some new weapons and Modules. Thankfully, we now know the details about all of that.

Ultimate Valby

You can now unlock the Ultimate version of Valby. We expect that, like all other Ultimate Descendants, you will have to grind for a while before obtaining all the necessary parts and blueprints. The ultimate equipment is called “Sea of Emerald,” and it is a nano suit that replicates Valby’s former body color and texture. “Although covered in a thin layer, Valby feels like regaining a long-forgotten part of herself.”

Ultimate Valby Descendant Modules

As with every Ultimate Descendant, Valby gets two Ultimate-only Modules to further enhance her abilities.

  • Spiral Tidal Wave – Replaces the Bubble Bullet with a projectile that flies straight. “Spiral Tidal Wave attracts the impurities of Gluttony, making it an excellent choice for intercepting Gluttony.”
  • Hydro Pressure Bomb – Replaces “Plop Plop” with a leap forward that deals damage to enemies around the landing area. The more enemies in the Laundry state, the more powerful the damage.

Luna

The most anticipated addition is the new Descendant Luna, “The Mad Artist”. Her synthesizer gun becomes more powerful when fired in rhythm and it enhances allies’ abilities based on the performance. Furthermore, Luna improves the allies’ Skill Power or resource consumption, depending on what music she dances to.

Luna’s Modification Modules

Luna starts off with two character-specific Modules and no doubt more will be added with future updates.

  • Nimble Footsteps – Enhances Luna’s mobility and amplifies the effect range of her performance, allowing for more effective ally support.
  • Noise Surge – This Module changes Luna’s support aura into a damage-dealing aura, transforming her from a supporting character into a DPS one.

Gluttony

A new Colossus, named Gluttony, will be here. It is a mutated Devourer-type boss equipped with “systems to mine Void Energy and a cooling system to cool the heat generated during this process”. It looks like it will be a Chill-based Colossus. Additionally, it will be the only way to get your hands on the new Ultimate Weapon and Module.

New Ultimate Weapon – Peace Mediator

This new Hand Cannon with the ability to unleash a burst of bullets, along with the usual single-shot firing mode. “When meditation is necessary to bring peace to Ingris, the new ultimate weapon Peace Mediator is the perfect solution.”

New Ultimate Module – Arche Concretion

This new Descendant Module increases the DEF and MP but reduces movement speed and ATK. It will be a great choice for Descendants who rely on Skills more than on their weapons.

Balance Updates

Valby, Blair, and Freyna will see an improvement in their AoE Skills. “Look forward to improved performance for these wide-range covering Descendants.”

Furthermore, some Ultimate weapons will get improvements to their Critical Hit Rate and Damage. Enduring Legacy, Secret Garden, and Nazeistra’s Devotion will all get boosts to their Critical stats.

Moreover, Greg’s Reversed Fate will trigger its unique effect more often. Lastly, single-shot weapons will get the option to shoot either in single-shot or rapid-fire mode.

And let’s not forget about new cosmetics (sadly we don’t have any info on what they will be).

All of these improvements sound more than great, and we are literally counting the days until this new update goes live.
