Nexon has been delivering updates and hotfixes on an almost weekly basis now. Whatever the fans have an issue with they can easily share their complaints on the official Discord Q&A and the devs will take notice. So, to fulfill some of their player’s requests, they released a Hotfix 1.1.8 for The First Descendant on November 14 and it brings two important changes to the game.
The First Descendant Hotfix 1.1.8 Patch Notes
The 1.1.8 Hotfix fixed some errors and changed two important features: the Private/Public server switch and Explosive Barrels.
Content Improvements
(1) Content Improvements
– Explosives – Gas Tank and Vulgus Shells now only explode when damaged by firearms.
ㄴ Explosives will no longer explode due to skill damage.
– The rate of outgoing damage of explosives has changed.
ㄴ For players, reduced from 0.3 to 0.05
ㄴ For Common Monsters, increased from 0.9 to 1
ㄴ For Elite Monsters, increased from 0.2 to 0.4

ㄴ Similar to the Field Difficulty change, Public/Private settings will take effect upon visiting a Camp or Outpost after making a change.
– The maximum number of players you can add to your Friends and Block lists has been changed.
ㄴ Previously: 50 → Now: 100
Bug Fixes
(1) Contents
– Fixed an issue where the Timer UI showing the remaining time to attack the Commander monster in Invasion would sporadically not be visible.
– Fixed an issue where the monsters would move around the defense objects and stop attacking in the Special Operation Albion Resource Defense Fortress.
(2) Descendants
– Fixed an issue where ‘area targeting skills’ would not activate and be cancelled when the target was too far from the reticle at the center of the screen.
ㄴ Affected Skills: Viessa (Ultimate Viessa)’s ‘Blizzard’, Valby (Ultimate Valby)’s ‘Plop Plop’, Enzo’s ‘Start Supply’ and ‘Supply Firearm Enhancer’, and Yujin’s ‘First Aid Kit’
“A Time Saver” We Can More Easily Switch Between Private and Public Servers
We’ve all been there. You start playing and just want to quickly check something out on your own, maybe do a quick Outpost. And then you see that other players are also there, ready to ruin your fun, and you realize that you haven’t set the servers to Private. Now you need to go back to Albion, change servers, and hop back in, wasting precious time. This has happened to all of us hundreds of times.
And with this patch, we won’t be wasting time anymore on server switches. Whether you want to go from Public to Private or vice versa, you can now do so while in action. Simply jump to the nearest Outpost, switch servers, and the game will do the rest. Hardly a critical fix but a huge QoL improvement and the fans love it.
Bunnies Don’t Have to Fear Explosive Barrels No More
The other, arguably more important change is with the Explosive Barrels. They now deal significantly less damage to Descendants and can’t be triggered with Skills, only weapons. So now all Bunny mains, Ajax mains, and others who deliver close-range AoE damage can breathe a sigh of relief. Now the barrels will only trigger when you fire at them.
Unsurprisingly, the players are delighted with this change, especially Bunny mains. “All my homies hate explosive barrels, great change,” said radnom2wins, and “Finally I can play Bunny without exploding” added ZengerGarden.
Two minor but significant improvements. The official reveal video for Season 2 is scheduled for tomorrow so stay tuned for more news.
