The Last Dagger was an often-overlooked weapon in the game since it had to compete with way better Firearms. But recently, things have changed and it has become all the rage in the community. Keep reading to see how to make the most out of The Last Dagger in The First Descendant.
The main part of the 1.2.7 Update is the improvements to Void Erosion Purge missions. That, and the introduction of the Hot Springs event. Nexon added that they improved some under-performing Firearms, but those changes flew under the radar, compared to Void Erosions and swimsuit skins. Among those changes are the massive improvements to The Last Dagger, which became the new craze in the community.
How to Make the Most of The Last Dagger in The First Descendant, as Explained by Vash Cowaii
The Last Dagger got some significant buffs in the February 13 update. It got an increase in the base ATK, but most importantly, its Unique Ability now provides a stackable Critical Hit Rate buff with each hit, called Lethal Dagger. In addition, each hit also adds stacks of Patience. When you hit the maximum number of Patience stacks (30), you fire a single powerful round that consumes your whole magazine. It deals Firearm DMG multiplied by the number of rounds in the magazine, further multiplied by 16%. Unfortunately, this multiplier does not stack with other bonuses and buffs, meaning that building into this ability is not the way to go. What you should be doing is making the most out of The Last Dagger’s Crit Rate.
With maximum stacks of Lethal Dagger, The Last Dagger has a base Crit Rate of 78%. Note that that number is before taking into account any other Crit Rate improvements you may have, like from Modules and weapon substats. This means that practically every shot with The Last Dagger can be a Crit, meaning you should lean into as much Crit Damage and Firearm ATK as you can. The Last Dagger is arguably best when wielded by Gley since she has the ability not to consume the rounds of the weapon for a while, meaning you can shoot a ridiculous amount of Critical Hitting shots, that can melt through almost anything. This is explained in more detail by Vash himself, and we will also share the build he provided (using Chill has his elemental damage of choice).

As commented by Vash, The Last Dagger will not suddenly become everyone’s go-to weapon of choice. But it is very fun to use and in the right hands, can and will do wonders. A big shoutout to Vash for his contribution to the TFD community.
