Until recently, some Modules were only obtainable by combining your extra Modules at Silion’s workshop. The worst part is that the Module you get is practically random, ie, you can combine hundreds of modules, and waste thousands (if not millions) of Kuiper, without getting what you want. That led to some exclusive Mods getting an almost mythical status, just for the sheer rarity. On October 30, Nexon released a major update for TFD which, among other fixes, allowed for some of those Modules to be obtainable in the usual way, ie, as a drop from Infiltrations. That led to some players simply getting those previously hard-to-obtain Modules without ever seeing them before or realizing how much trouble other The First Descendant players had to go through, which ruffled some feathers.
Players Unaware That Some Modules, Like Shot Focus, Even Existed in The First Descendant
Visiting Silion to combine your extra Modules is not something that the majority of TFD players do on a daily basis. They usually only do so when their Module inventory is close to getting full, and just half-mindedly press buttons to get rid of them. Thankfully, Nexon mentioned that an auto-combine feature for Modules is in the works. On the other hand, some players were dead set on getting those exclusive Modules, and have spent uncountable hours, Modules and Kuiper in hopes of getting the likes of Shot Focus, Hardline Suppression, or Shield Collector.
One player posted on Reddit that they recently got Shot Focus from an Infiltration, and have never seen it before, asking for some advice. For the record, Shot Focus increases your Firearm ATK but lowers your Skill Power Modifier. The majority of players offer helpful advice, saying it is great for those Descendants that rely on their weapons to deal the most damage, like Gley or Ajax. “Shotgun Gley, Enzo and Gun Ajax love Shot Focus since none rely on skills for DPS” said Ashamed-Teaching6837, and “Weapons focused characters and builds. Supply moisture Valby, Most Enzo builds, Gley if not a massacre build etc.” agreed International-Bowl38.
“I’m Not Angry, Just Disappointed…”
However, some players were a bit irritated with the whole situation and the fact they spent so many resources trying to get Shot Focus, while some “random” got it by accident in an Infiltration mission. “You are joking, right? Do you know how many mods I lost combining them to get that?” asked SolidStep4016, and “It used to be by combining mods only. 300 hours in the game, combining mods on a daily basis and nothing ….devs seem to turn the game into easy mode indeed, not sure thats a wise choice in the long run,” added Winneh-.
Finally, other players are aware that it’s the exclusivity that gave Shot Focus it’s near-mythical status. Objectively, it is nothing special, just a neat damage boost. As CynistairWard said: “The fact it used to only be obtainable through combining means ppl found it very hard to get and, IMO, got over invested in the idea of having it in a build, leading to it being overrated. “ While we get the frustration that some players have after spending tons of resources on getting it, raining on someone else’s parade will get you nowhere.
