Some Dismantled Weapons Are Getting Restored, Courtesy of The First Descendant Devs

You can get so many items during your adventures in the world of Ingris. So much so that your inventory can get full and you have to remove some items to make way for new ones. In The First Descendant, that is handled via the Dismantle mechanic. You select unwanted items in your inventory and dismantle them to make room for new ones and get some crafting materials in return.

Players Dismantled Quite a Lot of Ultimates

To speed the process up, there is an option to auto-select all the extra items in your inventory in one click, except for Ultimate Weapons. But, players sometimes select those Ultimate items as well and dismantle them by accident, which obviously permanently removes them from the game. That can be quite a problem since you need those Ultimates to improve the weapon’s Abilities. With even one copy of an Ultimate weapon gone, you are forever prevented from maxing out its ability.

Players worldwide asked for a way to get those weapons back, but Nexon has been silent on that subject. That is until Hotfix 1.1.2b came along on September 13 and fixed some things up.

Hotfix 1.1.2b to the Rescue!

Friday 13 is deemed the unluckiest day ever, but not for TFD players. The devs released a Hotfix that will gradually bring back some of the dismantled Ultimates. “For those who accidentally dismantled their Ultimate Weapon between 1.1.2 update and 1.1.2b update, we will restore the dismantled weapons via mail without needing an additional request.”

Furthermore, they are temporarily preventing Ultimate weapons from being designated as Junk and getting Dismantled in any way. “After the Hotfix 1.1.3, Ultimate Weapons will be automatically registered as Attached Items, and we will make modifications to let Ultimate Weapons not to be selected as ‘designated all as junk’.”

But Only For Recent Mistakes

The bad news is that this only works for Ultimates dismantled after the last big update, which happened the day before, on September 12. Nexon is planning some overhauls to the ‘Auto-select Junk’ mechanics for the next big update, but there is no word on whether something will be done with Ultimates that are dismantled before the 1.1.2 update.

While players are happy with this fix and you get comments like “Super based devs for this. Saw a lot of comments about people accidentally dismantling their ultimate weapons.” by LloydMetal, and “My goodness they work FAST” by JustAnotherParticle, we still hope something will be done with previously dismantled weapons. That is a point of irritation for a lot of players and Nexon would be wise to do something about it. Even paying Calibers to get your Ultimates back would be great. “Hey, you made the mistake, you can fix it but it will cost you” is better than nothing.
