We’ve all been there, or at least witnessed it. You’re about to start a Void Interepect Battle and realize you selected the wrong build for this fight. There is a great build that you have for bosses, but unfortunately, you forgot to change it and now you’re stuck fighting Gluttony with your leveling build. Or you as an Ajax have queued for a Public Intercept, hoping you would get matched with a cool team, to quickly finish off that boss and get the rewards, only to realize three other Ajaxes had the same idea. More often than not, this ends up badly for the whole squad.
Changing Descendants and Mods Before the Battle Could be Useful…
Before each Void Battle, you have about 10 seconds to get your bearings, probably implemented so that even those who are lagging behind a bit can get to the battle before it starts. Some fans, like Gh0stnet on Reddit, offered an idea where you can change your Mods during those 10 seconds, in case you have taken the wrong ones.
They even go a step further, proposing that we should even be able to change the selected Descendants. This would be a great addition, in case the party composition is horrible (like in the aforementioned Ajax situation).
“[When] we are randomly queuing you don’t know what the team composition will be until you drop in so it’d be nice to have the option to change so you’ve got a greater chance of success.” said the OP. Rabya13 stated: “I think changing preset would be fine just not mods in mid fight. some of the players leaving at start could be players forgetting to switch their preset before starting. “ Another user, named DJSancerre, stated that this would be crucial for Luna players since you can find yourself in a group that won’t benefit from your buffs at all.
…Or Abused
On the other hand, this can be abused by many players. Some would straight-up bully people until they switch to a Descendant they’d like to see (like forcing people to play Kyle, so they could leech off his insta-kill bug, back in the day). Others would just randomly switch Descendants until the timer reaches zero (we’ve all seen that in other games), to express their quirky personality, to everyone’s detriment.
This Was Possible Before
A lot of players chime in, stating that you could switch Mods before. Unfortunately, this was abused, not in the way we already mentioned, but by stacking bonuses from different Mods before the time ran out. “The issue was mainly with Enzo, where you’d use his different transcendent mods to stack buffs. gley also had a playstyle specifically for buildswapping if I remember correctly” said Skeletondoot.
You could even switch builds mid-fight, resulting in insane amounts of damage with some characters. “It was abused way back in pre-season.” said Trixstah2109.
In conclusion, this change could be beneficial to all, if implemented properly. As the OP and a lot of other players suggested, the abuse could be negated by wiping away your “buffs” when the countdown finishes. Or by simply blocking the use of abilities until the fight starts properly. There are solutions, the question is whether Nexon would bother with this or not.
