Season 2 is live and players from all over the world are trying to connect to try out all the new features Nexon added. It is bringing a ton of new stuff, like new events, skins, playable characters, ultimate characters, an expanded roadmap, new Weapon Modules, and more. And let’s not forget the various fixes and changes, like the Bundle discounts in the shop, buffed Descendants, weapons, the list goes on. The Season 2 update for The First Descendant was so highly-anticipated, that when it went live, some moments ago, the influx of players was so large that they managed to overcrowd the servers. Talk about a “dying game”.
Season 2 is Here and The First Descendant Players Managed to Overcrowd the Servers, Preventing Further Logins
On December 5, the long-awaited Season 2 of The First Descendant went live. The devs did an awesome job hyping the player base, with teasers, video announcements, live broadcasts, the official dev Q&A, and all that jazz. It turned out more successful than they probably anticipated, and now the servers can’t handle the sheer number of login attempts. So much so that a huge part of the player base simply cannot log in.
The social medias are full of posts from people stuck in the queue. There is even a Reddit post where people share their queue numbers.
Emergency Maintenance – The Devs Are On It
The devs caught wind very soon and are working their best to fix the issue. The game is currently made unavailable by the devs, as they began an emergency maintenance to fix it. They posted on X:
“Emergency Maintenance Notice
Due to server instability, we are having emergency server maintenance. Details will be shared once the maintenance is complete.
Maintenance Schedule – PST: 2024.12.05 (Thu) 05:40 AM ~
The game will be unavailable during this time. Maintenance Details Resolving game login errors We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.”
They didn’t set any end time for the maintenance, so the best we can do is be patient. The servers will surely be up and running very soon.
UPDATE: Just a few minutes ago, Nexon posted: “We have identified the cause and are currently working on a fix, which is expected to take approximately 1–2 hours. We will provide further updates as soon as the process is finalized. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.”
