In TFD, there are a lot of things you must keep track of. Besides the usual Health/Shields (both your and enemies’) bars, you must pay attention to ammo, Skill cooldowns, Frenzy meter (during Colossi battles), and more. On that note, there are also a ton of various buffs and debuffs that you can be affected by. It can take some time before you even realize there are icons for that. The problem is that the icons in question are small and lacking in any description, ie, you have to memorize what each icon represents. Most of them are pretty straightforward but during some hectics fights, you must keep your eyes on the action, and not play a memory game with buffs and debuffs. That’s why some of The First Descendant players proposed that having the ability to modify the buff display UI would be a massive QoL change.
The First Descendant Players Ask for the Ability to Modify the Buff Display UI
We presume that anyone besides the most dedicated veterans has been confused from time to time by all the small icons that you see on your screen. You have green icons for buffs and red icons for debuffs, but all you can see are pictures and you have to memorize what each of them means. On that note, some of The First Descendant players came up with an idea to have the ability to modify those icons, to make them larger, clearer, have the names of buffs/debuffs instead of images, have a timer with actual numbers, etc.
This was proposed on Reddit by arpanConReddit, where they proposed some ideas and suggestions for UI improvements. For buffs/debuffs and skills, they proposed that a timer with numbers would work way better in showing the remaining duration/cooldown than what we have now. Others agree, with Ilela saying: “I totally agree with the skill duration UI and I’ve been thinking of making same post too” and Offstar1029 adding: “Also the UI for the various things that are affecting you and your weapons should be moved to be above or under the ammo/shield/hp UI so it’s all concentrated in one spot and easier to pay attention to everything.“

Furthermore, a player named andrew.dh88@3606OP on Discord suggested that we should have “the ability to customize buff icon display in the game. As it is currently it’s barely visible and then you need to memorize the symbol and associated buff. Would love to have the ability to alter the size of [the] buff icons, [their] location and possibly the [appearance] of a buff icon or the option to switch it from an icon to the buffs name.” This turned into an official poll where you can vote right now if you are a member of TFD’s official Discord channel.
While not critical for the current state of the game, implementing these suggestions would surely be a big QoL improvement for everyone.
