Let’s be real, it’s the character design that “sells” TFD, rather than gameplay. The game itself is nothing new, it’s a looter shooter like any other. A pretty good one, but far from revolutionary. But, the character design is something else. Nexon really struck gold with that one, as scores of players spend money to get some new Skins for their favorite Descendants. Online games usually take every opportunity to add new skins and other cosmetics to their shops, and players noticed that the shop in The First Descendant is strangely lacking in those.
The First Descendant is Lacking in New Skins
The main cosmetic choices in TFD are your “head” and “body” Skins (aka, hairstyle and skin). You can get some new ones either in the Battle Pass (and the accompanying Bonus Shop) or by purchasing them in the Store. However, new Skins are usually only released with the new Season.
If you don’t like what is offered, you have to wait for the next Season (and that’s gonna take a while). The only time we got some new Skins before the new Season was when we got the Summer Swimsuit Skins. Players noticed this trend and are wondering why Nexon isn’t doing anything about it.
More Skins Will Benefit Everyone
One player, named USN253 on Reddit, is asking Nexon to add more skins, saying: “Hit while the iron is hot, pump out skins/hair/make up”. And they are quite right, Nexon could use this wave of enthusiasm for the game to offer more and more Skins to The First Descendant players, and get some serious profit out of it. Everyone wins here. “The new update made me want to buy something but nothing sticks out yet other than the couple I have” added Squirrel009.
User callthepoelice said: “Come on Nexon. Live service gaming 101 – fashion is true end game. Let us look fabulous while we’re standing in our Albion conga lines.” With Autumn right around the corner (and spooky month following close behind), this is a perfect opportunity for some Fall-themed outfits. And a Halloween-themed event with appropriate skins would definitely be a hit.
Fortunately, the devs are planning to add more and more skins, at least they said so in the post-launch presentation. We understand that they had more pressing matters to deal with since then. However, the game looks to be in a good place at the moment, so this is a perfect opportunity to add more and more new Skins in the following period.
