Stealth missions are practically in every shooter game, and TFD is no different. Nexon’s looter-shooter has a peculiar take on that type of mission. If you manage to sneak in a Vulgus Strategic Outpost and disable all the power cells without being seen, you will get some extra rewards, on top of the regular ones you get for completing that mission. But, as TFD is more of a run-and-gun game, not many players bother with trying to be stealthy. Sharen is the only Descendant who can actually do these missions reliably.
A Peculiar Infiltration Method
As mentioned, the only character that can reliably sneak is Sharen. No other Descendant has any stealth capabilities (until they add No. 17 as a playable character). But, you don’t have to be stealthy to be undetected, as shown by one player, named Dr_Mothman on Reddit.
They’ve posted a video where Jayber, the Descendant who utilizes turrets, is getting ready to start an Infiltration mission. They then summon two turrets in the middle of the outpost, eliminating all the enemies inside. Since Jayber is still undetected (as no one is left to see him), the player enters the outpost and quickly disables the power cells before the next wave of Vulgus spawns. The game counts that as a stealthy approach and rewards the player appropriately (after defeating the Commander, of course).
An Eye-Opener
As you’d expect, the players are thrilled with this revelation. “…at certain levels the turrets will clear enough that you can actually infiltrate without stealth modes!” said the OP. Others jokingly accuse him of being a Nexon dev in disguise, there to show the players how Jayber should be played. “I love all these clips of people finding alternate ways to infiltrate. Yes, Sharen is the go-to for stealth, but it’s not impossible for others to do it” added morphum.
Naturally, this requires some practice to pull off. “It definitely has to be done particular ways, there were times where it wouldn’t quite set up properly, takes some messing around with timing/setting locations “ added the OP.
It is always great to see players come up with new and interesting ways to tackle missions in The First Descendant. Honestly, it is a bit limiting to only have Sharen (one out of 16 different characters) for these stealth missions, so any “outside the box” solutions are more than welcome. We just hope Nexon will not nerf this in the future.
