The First Descendant Players Share a Helpful PSA – Get the Doggo First!

The latest Season of TFD added perhaps the best feature to the game – dogs. Called Fellows, these pooches serve as your loyal companions. For now, there is only one “model”, called the Hagios Sheepdog, but you can apply different fur colors and attachments however you please. But they are not just for show. Fellows grant certain benefits that will help you in the long run, so The First Descendant players agree that you should get the doggo first, before Keelan.

Players Recommend That You Get the Doggo First, Before Keelan in The First Descendant

From the start of Season 2, we are introduced to Void Vessels and the H.O.U.N.D. unit, Ines and Keelan. In the introductory mission, you see Keelan rescuing a dog from the Vessel, and when the whole mission is over, you have to option to research both of them. As expected, Keelan is a brand-new Descendant, while the dog is a Fellow, a type of companion that offers some cool benefits. Fellows can pick up items for you, auto-dismantle what you deem as junk, and even increase the drop rates from some items. The last part is the reason why doggo should be your priority.

You’ll get Keelan research parts more easily if you have a doggo on your side, to increase those drop rates. When you finish the Void Vessel missions, you be given a choice of chests, either for Keelan parts or for the Fellow. Unfortunately, you only get one or the other, not a mix. What the players recommend is to use the new “pity” system to target Fellow parts as much as possible. Why? Because having a Fellow on your side will make farming for Keelan parts way easier.

Additionally, having a Fellow with you when you’re about to open a chest with Fellow parts will decrease the chance of getting those parts (since they’re all but useless now), and increase the chance of getting the Resource Box or Gold.

Unfortunately, this all sounds great “on paper”. In practice, you really can’t choose whether you’ll get the Fellow chest or the Keelan chest at the end. You can always purchase the doggy, but not everyone is inclined to spend real money. In any case, we hope the RNG is favorable for you.
