Players Frustrated With The Banned Words in The First Descendant Chat

The First Descendant Yujin with censured text

As with every multiplayer game, The First Descendant has an in-game chat. Players use it to communicate with others, usually when looking for a group to take down a Colossus (or as a platform to self-advertise). In the last couple of days, players started noticing that more and more words in the TFD chat are “banned”. Sure, games ban inappropriate words to keep the chat as clean as it can be, but the words in question are as ordinary as they come. The result is that players simply can’t communicate with each other, simply because every other word is banned. Unsurprisingly, they are getting furious.

“There Is a Banned Word Included” Banned Words Are All Over The First Descendant Chat

If you type anything in the chat, chances are it’s going to have a “banned word” in it (the word “anything” is safe though, we checked). Players report bizarre cases, like PuzzleheadedRow6497, who simply tried to say greet to someone. “I said hi to someone and it said there was a banned word. I then tried saying hello there. Banned word. I said omg. Banned word.” Even simple words of gratitude are not safe. “Ty mates” contains bad words,” added Trottole.

It’s not only the chat that is affected. The First Descendant players report that their titles can get rejected even when naming their Presets due to banned words. “I wanted to save a present named “Valby Gluttony”, turns out Gluttony is a no-no word, they better not find out they named one of the bosses like that,” said GierooN, and “Even for setups I wanted to name one ‘400% build’ and even that got banned,” added BGB83

Bug or a Feature?

Unsurprisingly, the whole banned words situation is a bug. Some players suggest restarting your game, as that can temporarily fix your chat. Luckily for us, Nexon is aware of this and are working on a solution, as stated in their official Discord channel by one of the mods

“Yup. The team is already looking into it. they will give an update once the chat filter is fixed.~”

Even though this bug is a bit on the funnier side, we understand that it can agitate players pretty quickly, especially those who like playing with randoms and forming groups with strangers. Thankfully, the devs are working on it and we hope the fix will arrive soon.
