Arche Tuning is a great way to add small buffs to your characters. However, it turns out some are pretty lackluster. Ones just like that are the Skill Duration UP Tuning nodes, whose bonuses are not working as one would expect, and players see them as next to useless in The First Descendant. But, there is a positive side to all of this.
Added in S2E2, Arche Tuning is a way to slightly improve some aspects of your character, like their Firearm ATK, Skill Power, Max Shields, Cooldowns, etc. It is divided into a node “tree”, and each node adds a tiny buff. When combined, these turn into significant bonuses. However, sometimes the math isn’t mathing, and some nodes are not working as you might expect, and the bonuses they provide are negligible. This has come to the attention of the community, and one player has voiced their concern, hoping that Nexon would notice. And they did!
Skill Duration Arche Tuning Nodes Are Not Working As You Might Think in The First Descendant
As it turns out, the Skill Duration improvements in Arche Tuning only improve your existing bonus, ie, if you don’t have Skill Duration buffs via Modules, Reactors, and External Components, the Tuning nodes will give you next to nothing. This has been noticed by a player who goes by the name of Ezio on Discord. He states:
“The 3 Skill duration nodes in Arche Tuning are borderline useless.
The max amount of increased duration you can get from mods is +85.3% You can get another +10.6% from reactor and +5.7% from 2 piece annihilation set bringing the total tp +101.6% Since these nodes are multiplicative, the 7.8% total skill duration from these nodes give at best +7.9% and at worst +0.0% (if you don’t have any duration on mods, reactor or external components).
Please at least change these nodes to be additive and not multiplicative, just like the ultimate cooldown node.”
Others join in, stating that the bonuses should be additive and not multiplicative. And it turns out: they are right, as that was the intention all along.
Nexon Confirms That They Should Be Additive
A Moderator on Discord was quick to answer, saying that the players are right. MOD_Marie replied: “We’ll make sure to forward this suggestion to the team to modify the nodes to be additive, and it shouldn’t be multiplicative, like the ultimate cooldown node.”
While this issue is nothing extraordinary, compared to the character rebalance we’re all waiting for, it’s great to see that Nexon acknowledges their mistakes, and hopefully, it won’t take long for them to address this.
