The First Descendant Players Are Sick of a Certain World Chat Trend

World Chats are notorious for the sheer randomness of their content (like the infamous “Barrens Chat”). There, players have little to no restraint in what they say and to who. That can lead to some hilarious conversations and statements or plain shouting and swearing matches. But, there is a trend in global chats that is arguably even worse than what we already mentioned. At least The First Descendant community is sick of it.

Boosts and Bots Are Flooding the TFD World Chat

If you have spent any amount of time in TFD, you’ve surely seen that you can access the World Chat (by pressing Enter on your keyboard and selecting World). There you will predominantly see messages of players looking for groups or other players to help them farm for Descendant and Weapon parts.

However, you’ve probably also encountered messages like “BOOST”, “CHEAPEST CARRY” etc. Those are usually automated messages from players who are offering their boosting services for a fee. Naturally, they are not very popular with any player base.

Ok_Pear779 started a thread on Reddit to discuss these spammers, and to see if anything can be done about them. “Im pretty sure its against the terms to promote that kind of services and to be honest i personally think it destroys the world chat.” said the OP.

A lot of people point out that the main problem with this is the fact that bots/spammers can keep making accounts since the game is free to play. Sometimes there are downsides to F2P, but, this issue is not exclusive to F2P games, as stated by Farcery: “Its in every game. If there is a global chat there will be bots spamming in it. Good luck. Game is f2p no stopping it. Its even in Diablo 4 which is not f2p.”

User Masaruin adds: “Even if you block these, you can still see the spam…“ Now the question is: can something be done about it?

The players discuss all the various solutions that can be implemented to prevent these spammers from flooding the chat. Players agree that having active chat administrators will do wonders. They further point out that other, similar games have solved this problem. Infinite-Emphasis381 adds: “Games like Guild Wars 2 never has this happen as well.  creating a system that detects and removes that is definitely possible just takes work…”

OP added a good idea on how to solve this problem: “…my approach to that would be a black list of certain words like www or .com or booster like that which the bots use to spam the chat “

It is a sad reality that these bots and boosters have free reign, but those are the downsides of F2P games. OP’s idea is pretty good, so we hope to see Nexon do something about it. It is possible, as previously mentioned, just needs some work.
