No one can deny that the girls of TFD all have quite impressive physiques. They are undeniably the reason why the majority of players even play TFD and spend money on Skins. Let’s not forget the fact that we have skins of various levels of modesty, and you can see how this combination contributes to TFD’s success. And you can’t blame Nexon for doing so. Fans ask, they deliver. That’s how we got the removal of the flaps in Twisted Worship and the upcoming addition of jiggle physics. More recently, the Season 2 reveal video showcased a bunch of upcoming skins. However, keen-eyed players have noticed that the body shapes on those upcoming skins are inconsistent with the original ones, and that got The First Descendant community unreasonably agitated.
The First Descendant Had Inconsistent Body Shapes Issues From the Start
Changing Skins is basically like changing outfits – different clothes on the same body. However, players started noticing minor inconsistencies ever since the early days of TFD. Some even claim that skins in TFD are basically a body type of their own, with a different head. “I was playing with the maid skin the other day and my wife noticed that Bunny looked off so we started comparing. It’s on almost all the girls with different skins having different issues,” said Silvered729 and “For a long time I have been noticing: a character’s body is decided by the skin, not his actual body. You notice by some skins how they change the body.” added Right_Seaweed7101.
Every once in a while, some new skin has an inconsistent body shape issue (for example Viessa in her swimsuit edition). The players filed some complaints, but nothing excessive. Then Nexon introduces Hailey to the game, who obviously has a slightly different body shape than the rest, and all of the upcoming “shared” skins had a “Hailey-version”, with a form in line with her own. All of this is about to blow up with the release of the Season 2 announcement stream.
First Hailey and Now Bunny? Even the Upcoming Skins Are Inconsistent With the Original Body Shapes
When the video announcement dropped the fans went crazy about the new skins, especially the one for Hailey. And it is of no surprise since the skin looks like a personalized Twisted Worship (arguably, the most successful skin in the game) that is a bit more revealing. However, the “revealing” part led to a revelation – Hailey’s body shape is slightly off in that skin. That has led to a ton of complaints from the fans, asking devs to look into it and fix the issue.
But that is not all. The devs revealed the upcoming Christmas skins, for Hailey, Bunny, and Valby. Even then fans noticed that Bunny’s shape is way out of proportion, compared to her Ultimate Skin. Some fans had reasonable comments, like Captainirony0916, who said: “To be fair, most of the Bunny skins are based on the proportions of her default version, who is, uh, not quite as well-endowed let’s say. So it shouldn’t be surprising that an event skin usable by both variants would have the proportions of the default model.” But, another user, named 92grinder, disagrees saying: “Not really. Normal Bunny’s default model doesn’t have body inside the suit, so that body of christmas skin is literally from nowhere…”
On the other hand, the whole situation took a comedic turn, as the fans started commenting stuff like “Literally unplayable” by CataphractBunny and “Can’t believe we’re doing this.” by sickflow.
Devs Give an Official Response
The whole hubbub is only a couple of days old, and the devs promised time and time again that they will look into it. On November 19, they gave a detailed answer and revealed their plans for the future.
The issues related to body types have gone far beyond what we initially anticipated. (Of course, that’s on me for failing to predict it properly…)
Addressing everything at once is practically challenging due to existing issue resolutions, quality upgrades, and new productions. Therefore, we are prioritizing sensitive issues, such as inconsistent body types across skins for the same character, and handling them one by one. I ask for your understanding.
With Hailey, we tried for the first time to create a character with noticeable body type differences. The feedback seemed positive, so we made efforts to introduce similar variations with the new descendant, Ines. That said, I believe there’s still a long way to go.
We’ll continue to work on this steadily and aim for meaningful results. Thank you for your patience and support!
The whole situation is a little ridiculous but Nexon is aware that appealing skins and character design sell, so they are doing their best to cater to those who provide them with the largest revenue.
