Nexon Shares Some Insights About Ultimate Blair, His Story, and New Skills in The First Descendant

The main attraction of the April 17 update is Ultimate Blair. He’s the first male Descendant to get a “new” Ultimate variant (Lepic and Ajax had Ultimate versions right from the get-go, so they don’t count), and knowing how awesome the Descendant storylines are, the excitement is pretty high. And Nexon shared some insights about Ultimate Blair in their recent The First Descendant devlive, including his new story and new skills.

New Ultimate Descendants are always a cause for celebration. They usually come with a personal story (Valby has been left out, unfortunately), new looks, better stats, and exclusive Modules. And sometimes, they shake up the meta, as was the case with Ultimate Freyna.

In the recent dev broadcast, Nexon addressed the infamous issue with the Ines nerf, teased the new “Dynamic Motion” feature, and talked about Ultimate Blair.

The First Descendant – Devs Share Some Insights And Teasers for Ultimate Blair

Ultimate Blair will join the roster in just a couple of days, but the recent devlive showcased his new Modules and how they change his Skills, as well as some insights into his new storyline.

“[Ultimate Blair’s] story seems a little different from the other Descendants’ story. This is our first time telling a story of a Descendant gaining the Ultimate power. For that reason, it has dramatic moments and turning points, but the very special highlight of the story would be seeing Blair keeping it lighthearted in crisis.

And the ambience of the story is quite different from the other descendants’ stories. The other stories were usually quite serious and dark; however, with Blair, there are many funny scenes that will make you chuckle. And you’ll also see Blair’s signature romantic gestures in the story.”

Ultimate Blair Skill Modules

As expected, there are two new Modules exclusive to Ultimate Blair, and both of them will change how some of his Skills work.

  • Killer Recipe
    • Changes Pitmaster (Passive) to A Feast of Flavours, which improves hit Skill Crits and Skill Power, as well as applying the Chef’s Touch condition, which you’ll need for other Skills.
    • Changes Blaze Up to Spicy Meatball, which fires multiple projectiles that deal explosive damage and apply Burn.
    • Changes Extinguish to Temperature Check, which recovers MP proportionally to the number of Chef’s Touch stacks that you have.
    • Changes Deadly Cuisine to Deadly Feast, which changes the Skill from a single target damage to multiple projectiles. Chef’s Touch is required to use it.
  • Next-Level Arson
    • Changes Blaze Up to Merciless Arson, which creates fire zones around you as you move.
    • Changes Burn Taste to Hot Delivery, which shoots flames in a wide cone in front of you. The bigger your Skill Effect Range stat, the larger the cone. Just like the Burning Hands spell from DnD.

For now, Ultimate Blair looks pretty great. Here’s to hoping that he won’t shake up the meta too much and cause some severe issues to the overall balance. We had enough of those!
