Reactors in TFD have been a hot topic these last couple of weeks. Initially, the players had issues with weapon mounting for those Rare and Ultimate Reactors, asking for either a specific Ultimate weapon or a weapon type. Thankfully, that was recently fixed, when Nexon released an update that allowed you to modify which specific weapon would grant you increased bonuses on your Ultimate Reactors. But that is not all. Season 2 is on the way, and Nexon has some more Reactor improvements in mind for The First Descendant.
Change From Specific Weapons to Weapon Types for Reactors in The First Descendant
As it stands, you need a ton of resources to modify the weapon mounting on your Ultimate Reactors. Still, it is a massive improvement from the random-drop-only mechanic we had until recently. But Nexon is not stopping there. In a recent Q&A question, they said that they are planning to improve the Reactor mechanics even further and remove the specific weapon requirements altogether.
“The optimization condition for reactors will be adjusted from specific weapon mounting to weapon types (e.g., assault rifles mounting), which is expected to significantly reduce the burden of meeting optimization conditions.”
If we understood correctly, even Ultimate Reactors will only require a specific weapon type to grant that 160% bonus, not an exact weapon. This begs the question: what will happen to all the players who already spent tons of resources to change the weapon mountings? We expect they will simply get a refund, so they can change the requirements to the weapon type of their choice.
Say Goodbye to Incompatible Elemental Bonuses
Another Reactor issue that has been plaguing the community is the fact that you can get Reactors with “wrong” bonuses. For example, you can get a Burning Reactor with one of its bonuses improving your Chill damage. Unsurprisingly, the players were quite sick of it and have asked time and time again for something to be done about it. Finally, Nexon answered. In the official Q&A on Discord, one of the devs said:
“We will quickly update the system so that incompatible attribute options will not be attached to reactors.”
No longer will you get Toxic Reactors with Non-Attribute bonuses, that you have to reroll. Unsurprisingly, the community is extremely happy about this, some saying “This will cut down farming times by A LOT,” and others stating that this is worth a “tip”. “I think I’ll buy some Caliber. I find it unusual when a company makes consistent adjustments from player feedback, and I think that deserves a tip,” said GitGudFox.
Time and time again Nexon listens to its community and takes a step in the right direction. The official Q&A was a great move and now the players are updated on all the plans Nexon has for The First Descendant, without having to wait for weeks to get any info.
