Nexon Considers Adding a Minimum Level Requirement to The First Descendant and the Players Are Looking Forward to It

Currently, the only thing keeping you from accessing any part of TFD is the main storyline. Every quest there naturally progresses you to the next stage of the game or the next Void Intercept Battle, unlocking further content. Unfortunately, finishing all the quests and defeating all the Colossi doesn’t necessarily mean that the player in question has a solid grasp of the game since they can easily be carried through it all. Time and time again you hear complaints from the community about the sheer number of players casually joining Colossi battles completely unprepared. Nothing is stopping them from doing it. However, Nexon plans to add even tougher endgame content to The First Descendant and considers adding a minimum level requirement (or minimum required Mastery Rank, to be specific) for it. As for the players, they seem to be looking forward to it.

Minimum Level Requirement on the Way to The First Descendant?

Lots of players had their games ruined by unprepared and low-level teammates. As some players say: “all it takes is one person not knowing what they’re doing to ruin the run”. With the recent addition of an official Q&A channel, Nexon keeps players updated on their plans for the game. One player stated that endgame content should not be accessible to everyone, and one of the devs replied that they are considering using Mastery Ranks as a minimum requirement for it.

We are considering implementing a Mastery Rank restriction for new end-game content. While we recognize that Mastery Rank alone doesn’t entirely measure a Descendant’s strength, we believe that higher Mastery Ranks generally correlate with greater game understanding. Therefore, this restriction could help prevent players from attempting end-game content with unsuitable setups.

However, this is where they draw the line, adding that MR requirements will in no way impact your farming or access to Descendants, weapons, or Void Intercept Battles. The new endgame content will be the only thing locked behind a Mastery Rank requirement.

We also want to avoid locking the farming of Descendants or weapons behind Mastery Rank. For instance, we’re not restricting access to the Void Intercept based on Mastery Rank for this reason.

Players Looking Forward to Minimum Mastery Rank Requirements

It is still too early to tell, but as it stands, the players are actually looking forward to these requirements. While everyone is aware that Mastery Ranks in no way, shape, or form represent the players’ actual skill, getting to the maximum Ranks at least requires some investment. “Mastery ranks aren’t the best way to determine a player’s skill but at least they’ve grinded enough to know how the game works. Don’t think a random Joe that doesn’t know how to put a few hp mods on is grinding MR to 20+” said im_vasco, adding: “The MR entry requirement being 20 wouldn’t be so bad because to get there you’d have to have at least more than 150hours in the game. I’m sure they still want a good portion of the player base to try it but not everyone should be able to.”

While some players are not so optimistic, others think this will be a good idea, like Inky_Passenger, who said: “I’m pretty sure whatever restriction they’re thinking isn’t more than 20. Not for season 2 at least. That would eliminate a massive majority of players, I would think 20 would be good for a while “

Season 2 and new endgame content is getting closer, it won’t be long until we see if Nexon follows through with this idea. Season 2 is scheduled for December 5, so we just have to wait a couple more weeks.
