“It’s a Bug, Not A Feature.” Turns out, The Incomplete Records In The First Descendant Are Not Intentional

We all thought it was intentional, but it is not – the incomplete Records in The First Descendant really are bugged.

When Medals were introduced, on April 17, with the Patch 1.2.14, players got another way to earn “achievements”. As TFD is a bit lacking in content at the moment, trying to earn achievements is a popular pastime. However, when carefully looking at the Medals/Badges, players noticed that there is one called Records Collection Badge, which awards you the Albion Honor Medal (yes, a Badge gives you a Medal, complicating things just for the fun of it), and it requires you to find 130 Records in the game. The issue is that there are only 129 of them currently in the game.

Players were pretty confused, with some saying that it was a bug and others claiming that it was pretty intentional, as the idea was to add more records down the line. It turns out that the first group was right.

The First Descendant Devs Revealed that the Incomplete Records Are Not Intentional; They Are a Bug

There was a full-blown discussion in the community about these records. The consensus was that it is a thing called “Timegating”, where something is not available right now, but will be in the future. That is why it was generally accepted that the record #130 will be added somewhere down the line, and we’ll just have to wait for a bit before we can claim the aforementioned Medal.

As it turns out, it truly is a bug, not a feature. The devs have indeed confirmed that, and Minseok Joo stated: “The achievement that requires finding 130 records is a bug. The correct number of obtainable records is currently 129, and we will be fixing this issue. We apologize for the confusion.”

This was further confirmed by the Discord “Community Support”, where the Mods said that the team is working on it, but we’ll have to wait for the official announcement for more information.

Nexon were always pretty fair in admitting when they made a mistake, and this only proves that even further. And they usually offer some goodies as compensation, so we may even get something extra out of this! Jokes aside, kudos to the devs for being transparent.
