Jiggle physics is a feature that a lot of games with female protagonists have, especially Asian fighting games. It is a fact that the girls are way more popular characters in The First Descendant, so we can kind of count it as a female-led game. However, the movement of the ladies in TFD did not have the pronounced jiggle that fans love, and time and time again they have requested Jiggle Physics from the devs. Well, it is happening. After months of requests, we finally have an official announcement from Nexon concerning the addition of Jiggle Physics to The First Descendant.
“The Decision Has Been Made” Nexon Will Implement Jiggle Physics to The First Descendant Sometime in the Future
Ever since the game’s release, fans have been begging the devs to add Jiggle Physics. And as we all know, the official dev Q&A is where all the freshest info can be found and questions answered. Unsurprisingly, since the first day of the Discord Q&A, fans have asked about Jiggle Physics, and devs were always very vague, saying they are considering it but it is not the priority. But, just like in those scenes where kids are pestering the parents for something each and every day, Nexon has caved in. On November 13, one of the devs on Discord posted:
“…I wanted to share some important news, so I decided to come online late tonight. After a lengthy discussion with the AD today, a decision has been made to add the much-requested ‘Jiggle Physics.’ This was decided only a short while ago, so the details of when and how it will be implemented in the game are yet to be finalized and will be shared in future updates. I hope this will be a pleasant surprise for our dear [Descendants] who have been waiting for it.”
So there you have it, the dream is alive. But, you may be surprised that this does not sit well with all the fans.
Community Split by Jiggle Physics
First and foremost, you can see a lot of positive reactions to Nexon’s announcement. “Thank you for this addition, I will be buying more skins thanks to this,” said one fan, while another went all in: “Pls make the jiggle physics as delicious as possible. Also don’t listen to the folks saying that you shouldn’t add jiggle physics as those are the minority who don’t even invest money into the game.”
However, some are not too happy with Jiggle Physics, saying that the devs are focusing on the wrong things and are catering to “weirdoes”. Others are wary that this may go too far and are asking the devs to keep it as realistic as possible (like in Stellar Blade). Lastly, a lot of fans are asking will this feature be togglable, ie, could you turn it on or off? There are still no answers on this one.
Lastly, as for our personal opinion, we would stand with the latter group. The design of the girls is already very good, so no need to fix something that is not broken. We only hope that Nexon will not lean into the jiggling too much and exaggerate things. But, what are your thoughts?
