When Season 2 came out, fans were excited about all the new content. Unfortunately, no one expected a bunch of errors to follow it, especially crashes. The majority of those have been fixed with minor hotfixes but players still reported problems, but of a different kind. Players were miffed with the new Void Vessel reward chests and the Heavy Ion Collectors farming the most. Now, a new update is here, called The First Descendant Hotfix 1.2.1, and has brought some massive QoL changes, especially concerning the aforementioned issues.
The First Descendant Hotfix 1.2.1
As promised, Nexon released the first “big” hotfix for Season 2 on December 12. They even held a new dev livestream right before it was released, where they talked about all the changes in great detail. And now, those changes are here, so let’s look at The First Descendant Hotfix 1.2.1 patch notes.
Content Improvements

Great Changes
The two main changes here are the Other Infiltration Support and the one about Void Vessel reward chests. Now, with Other Infiltration Support, you can select the Infiltration mission and its rewards, but you may get assigned to a different one, depending on the “demand”. When you complete the mission, you’ll get the rewards from the Infiltration you have initially chosen. That will make farming (especially for those pesky Heavy Ion Collectors) less tedious, as you won’t have to repeat the exact same mission dozens of times. Additionally, on the topic of Heavy Ion Collectors, they have been added as a reward in White-night Gulch: Mystery’s End – Infiltration Operation 400%, to spice things up.
The other great improvement is for Keelan/Fellow chests. Before this update, you would either get one or the other as the reward, and that was a real problem if you were farming specifically for, for example. Fellows. And as luck would have it, you’ll more often get the chests that you don’t want. Now, after the 1.2.1 Update, the reward chests will be mixed, ie, if you manage to get at least three (by completing the mission fast enough), you are guaranteed a choice between both types of chests. If we understood correctly, if you manage to get all four chests, they will be evenly spread: two chests for Keelan rewards, and two for Fellows, and then simply pick the one you like. Additionally, each time you get Gold as a reward, it will count towards your Target Reward (if you have set it up).
Another change worth noting is that Ultimate Weapons using High-Power Rounds have been buffed a bit. You now start a mission with 15 rounds, instead of five, and a lot of the Sniper Weapons gained increased ammo capacity, Restored Relic got a buff to its AoE, and Smithereens got a significant increase to its ATK.
Fans Love the Update
As Nexon is against nerfing (as much as possible), naturally, the players are thrilled about these changes. They really had issues with reward boxes and Ion Collectors, so a hotfix released this fast is commendable. “Thank you @FirstDescendant devs for listening to community feedback regarding gameplay issues and fixing them so promptly.” said Papofries, “Oh my lord thank youuuu” said Crush5873 about the Void Vessel rewards, and “Good fixes and QoL improvements.” said nyts90, but adding that there are still problems with the banned word in the chat.
Hopefully, those will get fixed as soon as possible. The devs revealed that the next update is scheduled for December 19 (it sounded a lot like “nine” in the devstream, but since that is impossible and probably just a slip, take this info with a tiny grain of salt) and it will be the last one for this year.
