TFD has some pretty cool gameplay, and an ok storyline (not the best one, but far from horrible as some would have you believe), but the best part of the game, the one that attracts the most players is the character design. Nexon really went above and beyond to give us the most attractive people possible. On that note, the choice of skins in the game is a little limited and there is not much variety, and players would love it if something could be done about it.
Players Split Over Skimpy and Non-Skimpy Outfits
With sugarcoating it, the skimpy outfits sell, and it is no wonder that Nexon focuses on them. It takes considerable time and resources to make a single skin in a game like TFD, so it is no wonder that the devs are focusing on something that will surely make some revenue. “There’s a reason why people are running around in the swimsuits. That’s what people want,” said GitGudFox.
On the other hand, the possibilities are endless and it would be a shame if we only got skimpy stuff. We all went crazy about Yujin’s Nightmare on Med Street, so we know that the devs are more than capable of designing awesome skins that are not based on lingerie. So, a bit more variety would make everyone happy. Halloween is on the way, so this would be a great opportunity for Nexon to add some spooky and horror-inspired outfits to the game.
Ultimate Characters Should Be Able To Use Their Regular Versions
Another sad fact is that once you get the Ultimate version of your favorite Descendant, you can’t mix it with parts of their regular, non-Ultimate counterpart. You’d be surprised by the number of players who are not too keen on the helmets every Ultimate skin has and would love to change it back to the regular, helmetless version. “Yes, I still want the default Viessa haircut on my Ult Viessa,” said Snack378.
We get that there should be a noticeable difference between regular and Ultimate versions (it’s like they are different characters altogether), but at least give us the option to use hairstyles from the regular ones.
More Options for Free Skins
There is only a single option to get skins in TFD without paying and that is through the Battle Supply Shop. It takes some effort to unlock and if that skin doesn’t strike your fancy, then you’re stuck with the default one.
What everyone would like is more possibilities to earn free skins through gameplay. Either through a challenge, after a quest, or when defeating a Colossus. “This would not only incentivize players to engage with the game more but also give free-to-play players something to work towards. It would add a sense of accomplishment and provide more customization options for everyone, without needing to rely solely on the store for cool skins.” said im-vasco in their Reddit post.
We could talk about paints, but everyone knows the painting system and how ridiculous it is. Everyone is still waiting for the option to paint over your regular skins. We’d even go that far as to say that keeping paints as consumables would be alright if that would give us the option to paint the default outfits.
None of this is game-breaking in any way, they’re just cosmetics and have no impact on the game itself, but some improvements in customization would go a long way and make the playerbase happy.
